Free sessions organised by the Fire and Rescue service

Some older adults have expressed a desire to continue driving to maintain their independence but struggle with confidence on the road. The Fire and Rescue service have organised some workshops for older drivers.

What should older residents expect from attending? ‘Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Older Driver Workshops are free sessions designed for those over 65 and currently driving, to help them keep driving safely for longer. We discuss how driving can become more challenging as we get older, and what simple checks we can do at home to keep ourselves fit to drive.’

Everyone is welcome to attend the Fulbourn Parish Council's Annual Parish Meeting, taking place Wednesday 20th May, from 7:30pm onwards at the Swifts Library and Meeting Room.

With regards to East West Railway Company a new subcommittee has been created, who will give an overview of the actions they have planned.

We will also hear reports from various groups around the village, including Fulbourn Action 4 Youth , 57th Fulbourn Scouts and Wrights Clock Land CIO who will be sharing their latest, exciting news!

Due to the Easter holiday period, the next Fulbourn Parish Council meeting will take place on Wednesday 15th April (instead of the 9th) The meeting will start at 7:30 and be held at the Swifts Library and Meeting Room, as usual.

Sadly, several of the poplar trees around Poor Well (Cow Lane, opposite Home Close Care Home) have reached a stage where they are no longer safe. In recent weeks, a number of large branches have fallen, and following advice from multiple tree surgeons, it has been decided that four of the trees need to be removed.

The work is scheduled to take place on 1st and 2nd April. The road will remain open, but traffic will be restricted to a single lane during this time. We kindly ask that you avoid parking along the road while the work is underway.

The Parish Council will be looking to replace the trees with more suitable species in due course.

📢 Manor Walk – Request for Information 📢

Fulbourn Parish Council is gathering information to support a Local Highways Improvement (LHI) bid relating to ongoing issues along Manor Walk. In particular, we are seeking evidence of problems caused by parked cars leading to oncoming traffic conflicts, including situations where cars and lorries meet head-on and are forced to reverse long distances.

If you have photos, videos, or written statements showing these issues, or if you’ve experienced this yourself, we would really appreciate you sharing them with us. Your evidence will help demonstrate the need for improvements as part of the LHI application.
