It’s dementia action week!

Caring for someone with dementia is ongoing — and it can feel like a constant mental load.
Some days are exhausting. Some days feel isolating. But support is here whenever you need it.

We speak to thousands of carers every year — and you don’t have to wait until things feel overwhelming to reach out.
Reaching out can make things feel a little lighter 💜

“It is relentless and exhausting. I always feel that I am playing catch up with the disease… it is an enormous responsibility which increases with time.”
— Dementia carer,

👉 Its Dementia Action Week!

We advocate to change this and ensure support is available. Talk to our Carer Support Line today:

This Dementia Action Week, we wanted to highlight the impact of 'Anticipatory Grief'.

Anticipatory grief is the emotional pain we feel before someone has died. When caring for someone with dementia, this grief can start early and last for a long time.

You might grieve:
- The person they once were
- Shared memories they no longer recall
- The loss of your relationship as it used to be
- Future moments that will never happen

This type of grief is valid and very real, even if the person is still physically present.

This week is Dementia action week.

Let’s make a change and support the brilliant carers that look after their loved ones.

Does someone you know support or care for someone 24/7?

What could YOU do to support them 🤔♥️

This Dementia Action Week, we’re standing together to build greater understanding and support for those affected by dementia 💙

Dementia is linked to an ongoing decline in brain function and can have many different causes and forms, meaning every person’s experience is unique.

At the Blue Lamp Trust, our staff are proud to be Dementia Friends and receive training to help us support our clients with understanding, patience, and care.

We’re also proud to be part of the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Dementia Alliance, working together to help raise wider awareness and support for people living with dementia, their families, and carers across our communities.

By taking the time to learn more, we can all play a meaningful role in creating a more dementia-friendly society.

Being a carer isn’t easy, but love, determination and courage will carry you through. Never give up! fans
