We are so proud of Alfie, Hannah, Kerry and Liam – they are Falmouth Town Councillors! They will do an ace job in representing us and we can’t wait to see what they achieve with the other councillors over the next four years. And the rest of Falmouth Community Collective will continue to support them from the sidelines (and the rooftops)!

Yesterday we watched as many councils voted Reform into seats across England so we were even prouder to see many great candidates get voted in here. What a great place we get to live in! 5 Labour candidates, 4 Falmouth Community Collective, 3 Green, 1 Mebyon Kernow, 1 Independent, 1 Conservative and 1 Reform candidate won seats.

Voting turnout had doubled since last year, we really hope we played a part in providing another option on the ballot papers and giving people some hope! We want to say a big thank you to you all for all the support you’ve given us over the last few weeks – leafletting, raffle prizes, events, sharing and general loveliness! You guys rock.

Cheers to an exciting new chapter for Falmouth!

Today is the day - let’s get out and vote!

This is our chance to shape the future of Falmouth together, not have it shaped for us.

Falmouth Community Collective was born out of a shared belief that the toxic politics we’ve seen nationally and globally have no place in our town. We believe Falmouth is and must remain a place of creativity, kindness, big ideas and compassion.

We’re local people with no party political agenda. We’ve put in our own time, energy and resources to stand for what matters: protecting our community, supporting the vulnerable and keeping Falmouth vibrant and resilient.

Please share this message and our posts today, every vote and every share makes a difference! Thank you for standing with us. FCC X

Five years ago, following years of involvement in community projects, Rufus co-founded The Cornish Bank CIC in Falmouth creating a platform for local musicians and welcoming artists from around the world to share their work with our community.

“As co-founder of The Cornish Bank, I’m a committed advocate for grassroots communities. Standing independently of any political party, I’m proud to be part of the Falmouth Community Collective ,a group rooted in care, creativity, and collaboration.

I would like to strengthen community ties, help tackle loneliness, protect our green spaces, and address the housing crisis. I believe in working across political divides to find common ground and real solutions. I hope to bring integrity, imagination and connection to local politics, and help shape a Town Council that works for all of us.”

“It’s only now after 50 years do I realise just how lucky I have been to have lived, worked and raised a family in our town and with open ears, using my experience in the public space built environment and community projects, I will help Falmouth navigate its next steps in a complicated world.

I am a carpenter and am so happy to have lived in Falmouth for so long. I piloted the first door to door recycling scheme with Falmouth Friends of the Earth. I have helped create many community theatre productions, most notable at the Dracaena Centre. I am a volunteer and board member of Falmouth Welcomes Refugees.

I am excited to continue Falmouth Town COuncil’s amazing work, alongside the energetic, positive and progressive Falmouth Community Collective.”

Hannah grew up in Falmouth, attending Miracle Theatre workshops as a child, making plays with Near-Ta Theatre as a teenager and now works professionally for various local companies as an actor, theatre maker, director and creative facilitator. She is one third of Trifle Gathering Productions and Miracle’s Associate Director of Youth & Community.

“I am a theatre artist and director, specialising in youth and community projects. I’m collaborative, a people person and excel working with diverse groups, often with those experiencing social, cultural or environmental challenges. I want to see all young people get the best from their town! I will champion local businesses as well as protect our shared social and green spaces and make sure funds are spread fairly across the entire town.

I was lucky enough to grow up in Falmouth and loved it! It’s a wonderful place and I am deeply committed to ensuring it continues to be a safe, welcoming and thriving town for all people.”

Charlotte is a team player, wearing many hats in our community. She has worked in many CICs in Falmouth, most notably co-founding Falmouth Food Co-op Kitchen during the pandemic which still runs today.

“I have enjoyed working, volunteering and collaborating across multiple disciplines; design, project co-ordination, event management, environmental championing and youth and community work. Often working with limited budgets and resources has necessitated creative thinking and adaptability but I love bringing people together to facilitate collective goals.

Co-founding Falmouth Food Co-op Kitchen, supporting members of our community has given me insight into some of the needs in our town and I want to bring the same fresh energy and kindness to create positive change in Falmouth.”

Alfie grew up in Arwenack, and trained as a product designer, engineer and carpenter. He is a lifelong maker, improver and fixer and aims to continue using these skills on Falmouth Town Council.

“As a carpenter and keen sailor, I have a particular interest in the built environment and Falmouth’s maritime heritage. Growing up in Falmouth I’ve seen the town change a lot. There are many brilliant community projects and small businesses thriving but it’s really hard for lots of my peers to find affordable housing and stay in town.

I’d love Falmouth to be a place where everyone felt welcome, had access to thriving green (and blue!) spaces and good quality housing.”

Kerry is one half of the interdisciplinary duo that set up The Seaweed Institute CIC, connecting people with the intertidal space. She also has experience working and volunteering in education, support work and community projects.

“My experience working in education, support roles and the local maritime sector has given me a well-rounded understanding of the challenges and strengths within our community.

I hope to use this position to allow existing community initiatives to thrive and support new ideas to take root, whilst helping Falmouth be a welcoming, inclusive and creative place. My hope is for Falmouth to have access to housing, nature, local good food and social connection and for it to be shared and celebrated.”
