After nearly a decade of serving the people of Fallowfield, Thursday’s result means my time as your councillor has come to an end. While I’m naturally disappointed, my overwhelming feeling is gratitude.
What a journey it’s been.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside some truly incredible people, the kind of people who quietly make communities stronger every single day. Together, we’ve fought for investment, celebrated successes, tackled challenges, and occasionally survived meetings that could probably have been emails.
I’m immensely proud of what we achieved together and of the many residents I’ve been able to help along the way. Fallowfield is a better place than it was when I first started, and I’ll always carry that with pride.
To Jade and Ghazala — thank you for your friendship and teamwork. I know you’ll continue doing brilliant things for our community. And to the newly elected Green councillor, I wish you every success in serving the people of Fallowfield.
Politics can sometimes feel brutal, noisy and increasingly divided, but the people of Fallowfield have always reminded me what really matters; which is a community that is looking out for one another.
The people I’ve campaigned with, worked with, laughed with (and yes, occasionally cried with) have become like family to me. So although I may no longer have the title, I’m certainly not disappearing. You’re stuck with me yet.
I’ll continue speaking up, getting involved and standing up for the values I believe in because our politics needs more balance, more compassion and a lot less shouting.
From the bottom of my heart - thank you, Fallowfield. It’s been the honour of my life. ❤️
