🏫 It was a real pleasure to visit Alma Primary School and see first-hand the fantastic work taking place across the school. I had a valuable discussion with the Headteacher about the challenges facing the school and the wider community, before meeting pupils who were preparing speeches to stand as school representatives.

It was wonderful to hear their ideas and enthusiasm, and I enjoyed sharing my top tips on public speaking, confidence and how to get their message across effectively.

Best of luck to all the candidates! 🌟

I have written to both the council leader and chief executive, after meeting the Heads of schools, to highlight the considerable concern and distress caused to school staff, parents, pupils and governors. The way that Enfield Council has dealt with this entire situation is not acceptable. Read more 👇

It’s been a busy few days at Labour Party Conference, representing the constituents of Enfield North and making sure their voices and priorities are heard.

Conference is always a valuable opportunity to meet organisations doing important work across our communities and to discuss how I can support their campaigns and causes in Parliament.

It was a pleasure to speak with representatives from Marie Curie, Humane World for Animals, Guide Dogs and the Women’s Declaration amongst others, hearing more about their work and the issues they want to see raised in Westminster.

I also really enjoyed catching up with some of the people helping to make politics more accessible online, including Tom Nicholas from Slow News Day and Ben Blissett from TLDR News.

Lots of conversations, lots of ideas, and plenty to take back to Parliament and continue working on for Enfield North!

A fantastic visit to Elsyng House Care Home, where I really enjoyed meeting residents and taking part in a lively and wide-ranging Q&A.

We discussed everything from crime and street cleansing to local developments and some of the big issues facing the Government. It was a great opportunity to hear residents’ views and concerns directly, answer their questions, and talk a little more about my work as their MP and how I represent Enfield North in Parliament.

There were plenty of thoughtful questions and a really engaging discussion, exactly the kind of conversation I always value when I’m out and about in the constituency.

A huge thank you to all the residents and staff at Elsyng House for such a warm welcome, and to everyone who took part. I look forward to visiting again!

🎄Christmas lights are coming to Hertford Road!🎄

I was delighted that the new Enfield Wash Pride in Place Neighbourhood Board has now held its first meeting, marking an exciting step forward for the programme. I’m particularly pleased that one of our very first decisions is already taking shape: bringing Christmas lights to Hertford Road this festive season, from Ordnance Road all the way to Green Street.

It's a relatively simple improvement, but one I hope will bring some real festive colour and cheer to Hertford Road, help support our local shops and businesses, and show residents that we are determined to start making a visible difference straight away.

And this is just the beginning. Enfield Wash is receiving £20 million over the next ten years through the Labour Government's Pride in Place programme, with local people helping to decide how that investment is used.

There was a real sense of excitement and ambition among Board members at our first meeting. Over the coming months we'll be working with residents, businesses and community organisations to develop the longer-term plan for Enfield Wash, but I'm really pleased that people will begin to see something happening this Christmas.

🎄 Hertford Road is getting its Christmas sparkle back!

I am very pleased to see the Government confirm important new rights for people experiencing bereavement and pregnancy loss.

From April 2027, employees who lose a spouse or partner, parent, adult child or sibling will gain a legal right to bereavement leave. The protection will also recognise step, half, adoptive, kinship care and foster relationships, reflecting the many different forms that families take.

Women and their partners who experience pregnancy loss before 24 weeks, including miscarriage and unsuccessful IVF embryo transfers, will also be entitled to up to two weeks of unpaid leave.

At one of the most painful moments in their lives, nobody should have to worry about whether they can take time away from work to grieve. These compassionate, common-sense changes will give families the time, space and security they deserve.

I pay tribute to the bereaved parents and campaigners whose courage and persistence helped secure this long-overdue recognition.

It was a pleasure to visit DHL’s London North East Service Centre here in Enfield North and meet some of the team keeping goods moving across our community and beyond.

The 64,000 sq ft site opened in 2017 and handles an average of 8,700 items and more than 4,200 delivery stops daily.

I was also pleased to learn about DHL’s work beyond the warehouse, including its Van and Child Safety project, which has reached more than 5,000 primary school children and teaches them how to stay safe around delivery vehicles.

Thank you to everyone at the London North East Service Centre for the warm welcome and for taking the time to show me around.

🏛️ A brilliant visit from Keys Meadow Primary School!

It was a real pleasure to welcome pupils from Keys Meadow Primary School to Parliament.

They came armed with some fantastic, and very challenging questions about Parliament, politics and what it’s really like to be an MP.

I always enjoy welcoming young people from Enfield North to Westminster and seeing their curiosity and enthusiasm for how our democracy works.
