Ellesmere Town Council Ellesmere Town Council is committed to improving its facilities for its residents and visitors. The first Town Mayor to be elected was: Cllr G Pritchard.

Ellesmere Town Council was formed on the 1st April, 1974 upon the abolition of Urban District, Rural District and Borough Councils. At the first meeting of Ellesmere Town Council members agreed to elect a Town Mayor and not a Chairman. Meetings have been held in the Town Hall in Willow Street since 1966 and previously held in the Old Town Hall which was bought from the Bridgewater Estate by a loca

l trust in 1928. The Town Council has twelve members. The Town Council meet on the first Monday of every month apart from when there is a Bank Holiday when a date will be agreed and re-scheduled. The Town Council break for summer recess for the month of August when there will be no monthly meeting. From 2003 Ellesmere Town Council has nominated and appointed local people who are recognised as having made a significant contribution to the local community as Honorary Townspersons,. This appointment was renamed Honorary Freewoman/Freeman from 2010. The Town Council is situated within the community and is the first point of contact for local people. Shropshire Council being the unitary authority for the area.

Berwyn View update.

We are delighted to announce that new footpath from Berwyn View leading to Oakmere Ridge was finished today by our fabulous contractors Clarke and Kent. We have also installed a new concrete pad and extended the start of the pumptrack.

Over the coming weeks ground maintenance contractors will be onsite to tidy up the vegetation along the path.
