🏆We have a winner! 🏆

Thank you to everyone who entered this year’s Dandelion Project Month of the Military Child Competition. The task was to design a cape, based on the theme, ‘We are Superheroes’. 🌟

We received a huge number of fantastic entries so judging each one was incredibly tough. It was really clear to see the thought and effort that went into every design. We were really impressed! 🎨🖌️

A huge well done to Leo C (P7) from Hythehill Primary School who won the competition this year. His design was very effective. We hope you enjoy your goody bag of prizes Leo and thank you for taking part! 🏅

April was a meaningful and memorable Month of the Military Child as we took time to recognise and celebrate the strength, resilience, and sacrifices of our incredible military-connected children and young people.

Throughout the month, we wore purple to show our support and shared stories that highlighted their unique experiences. From fun activities to heartfelt conversations, it was inspiring to see our community come together in appreciation of these amazing young individuals.

Military children serve too—facing challenges with courage and adapting to change with strength beyond their years. We are proud to honour them not just in April, but every single day.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this month so special. 💜💫

📣Month of the Military Child 2026 – Competition Theme Announced📣

We are pleased to announce the theme for the 2026 Month of the Military Child Poetry and Art Competition:

✨ Winds of Change ✨

Military life often brings change — both big and small — for children, their families, and their communities. This year’s theme invites young people to explore how change shapes their experiences and perspectives.

Competition categories include:
✏️ Poetry
🎨 Art
🖼️ Best Display by a school or group

The competition is open to UK residents, during the month of April, with more information coming soon.

👉 Teachers, parents, and service families:
• Talk about this theme at home or in the classroom
• Share this post with schools or groups who might want to take part
• Visit our website to learn how your school or group can get involved in Month of the Military Child activities

We look forward to sharing further details soon and seeing how young people respond creatively to this theme.
