This infographic highlights a message we don't hear often enough:

🗣️ Using a mobility aid is not giving up. It's adapting.

For many people living with myelopathy, mobility aids can help reduce fatigue, improve balance, prevent falls, conserve energy and maintain independence. Whether it's a walking stick, crutch, rollator, wheelchair or scooter, these tools exist to help you do more of what matters to you.

You don't need to be "disabled enough" to use one. You don't need anyone else's permission. And you certainly don't need to wait until things become unbearable.

Some days you may walk further. Other days you may need extra support. Both are valid.

The goal isn't to prove how much you can struggle through. The goal is to live your life as safely, comfortably and independently as possible.

🧡 What mobility aid has made the biggest difference to your life, and what would you say to someone who's considering using one for the first time?

A huge shout out to the wonderful team at Marmalade Trust and their week-long campaign to raise awareness of loneliness and social isolation.

At The Chatty Café Scheme, this is a cause very close to our hearts. Every day, in venues across the UK, we see first-hand how something as simple as a conversation can brighten someone’s day, boost confidence, and help people feel connected again.

Loneliness can affect anyone, at any age, and no one should have to face it alone.

If you’re feeling lonely, isolated, or would simply like to meet new people for a chat, we’d love to welcome you to one of our Chatty Café venues. Use our venue finder to find a table near you, or send us a DM with your postcode and we’ll help you find your nearest location.

A conversation really can make a difference. 💛
