LIB DEMS AND REFORM LEVEL IN EAST SUSSEX

A breaking poll from JL Partners and The Telegraph has shown Lib Dems and Reform level in East Sussex with all other parties falling. The choice in Sussex is clear, a community champion with competence and compassion with the Lib Dems or chaos with Reform UK.

More than 3,500 residents signed our petition against the online booking system for Household Waste and Recycling sites, yet the council ignored us. We’re already seeing the impact: queues and people being turned away from local tips. This is unnecessary bureaucracy that excludes some residents and risks an increase in fly-tipping across our community. If we win in May, we will scrap the requirement to book.

🔶 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝘂𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝗨𝗞 𝗜𝗻 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗯𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲!

🤏 Looking at the polling forecasts ahead of the East Sussex County Council elections (currently run by the Conservatives), it’s clear that in Eastbourne it’s a two-horse race between the Lib Dems and Reform, with the projected Lib Dem vote share on 38% and Reform on 29% (up from 13.3%!)

‼️ People are telling me they are increasingly concerned about the risk of Reform UK taking control.

📉 We only have to look at Kent to see the consequences of instability and poor decision-making when they’re put in charge of local services - Reform councillors have been suspended and kicked out on multiple occasions.

😲 Senior Reform UK figures have shown a worrying lack of understanding. The party’s deputy leader, Richard Tice, has appallingly described the special educational needs system as being “hijacked by parents abusing the system”, a remark that is deeply offensive to families who have been battling to get the support their children deserve.

💰 There are also serious questions about the conduct and judgment of those associated with the party. Nathan Gill, a former Reform UK leader in Wales, has been sentenced to 10 and a half years in prison after admitting to taking bribes in exchange for pro-Russia statements and speeches!

😤 It’s clear that Reform UK are also the party of division, inflammatory rhetoric, and a pattern of poor judgment. Just last week Reform UK’s housing spokesperson, Simon Dudley, was dismissed after claiming post-Grenfell Tower fire building safety regulations had gone too far, and stating that “everyone dies in the end.” These comments are not only deeply insensitive, but they also show a shocking disregard for those who lost their lives in one of the worst tragedies in modern British history.

👎 Billionaire-backed Reform UK offers no real solutions, only unfunded promises, reckless spending, and a failure to manage budgets and protect vital public services.

💪 We’re building a strong team of volunteers to stop them in Eastbourne. I’m looking for folks willing to get stuck in, delivering leaflets and knocking on doors. If you can spare some time, I’d love you to be part of the team.

🏡 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

👐 Everyone deserves a safe, suitable and secure place to call home. However, for too many vulnerable people in supported accommodation, this simply isn’t the reality.

🫂 Here in Eastbourne, we’ve seen the tragic consequences of a lack of regulation. I’ve been supporting local resident Emma, who has been bravely campaigning to strengthen the regulation of supported accommodation, following the devastating loss of her daughter, Chanté, last year.

📣 Since then, I have been working to ensure this campaign is heard in Parliament.

✍️ I have signed Emma and Karl’s petition calling on the Government to take action, which has now reached over 63,000 signatures.
