It's Maternal Mental Health
Awareness Week 2024!

But what is maternal/perinatal mental health?

You may have heard the terms "perinatal mental health" and "maternal mental health" used interchangeably. Both refer to mental health during pregnancy and up to two years after having a baby.
Most people are aware of postnatal depression or PND, but depression can also occur *during* pregnancy. Other perinatal mental illnesses include anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), eating disorders, and postpartum psychosis.
Although more common than you might think, impacting at least 1 in 5 new and expectant mums, maternal mental health problems are very treatable. With the right care, it IS possible to recover and even thrive!
This week, we want to show anyone struggling with their maternal mental health that they're not alone and they deserve support.
