SMILE Day Opportunities

Stirling SMILE, which is based in the Balby Bridge area of Doncaster, are part of the Friends of Sandall Beat Woods group, which we love to visit weekly.

During our recent visits, we have worked with park rangers to remove Spanish blue bells growing in the woodland. We do this to help protect the native English bluebells, as Spanish bluebells are invasive. Also, we have cut back the hedgerow and cleared weeds from the pathways.

We look forward to our next visit to take care of the woods and parklands.

Today the SMILE Innovators with be at the Community Centre on Harrogate Drive, in Denaby.

You will be greeted by the usual people for a friendly chat and help to connect you with your community.

Dig It N Gro, the gardening team based at Rossington SMILE have been working hard in the community weeding, cutting back bushes and clearing up our customer's patio area.

Stirling SMILE, which is based in the Balby Bridge area of Doncaster, has a weekly baking group where we enjoy trying out both old and new recipes together.

In recent weeks, we made an old school favourite chocolate concrete! We carefully measured out all the ingredients and followed the recipe step by step, which resulted in a delicious pudding which tasted just how we remember!

These sessions help us to build new skills and confidence, all while having lots of fun.

Adwick SMILE went on the Ethel Trust Community Barges and we all enjoyed cruising down the canal around Thorne and Stainforth.

We all had a delicious Fish & Chip lunch on board.

We had a great time and we can't wait to cruise the canal again!
