Our Story
The Becontree Horticultural and Allotment Association (known as the B.H.A.A. for short was founded by the first vicar of St Thomas’s Church, Becontree, The Reverend Albert Butterworth on 12th August 1922 as one of the first and largest allotment associations. We now manage seven allotment sites in the Dagenham and Becontree area:- Manning Road, Longbridge Road, Wood Lane, Chittys Lane, Bushway, Fritzlands Lane and Reede Road. Information on these sites can be found at the London Borough of Barking and Dageham Council's official website. In 4 years time will celebrate our 100 years birthday. Our 'Allotmenteers' range from all ages from the very young to the very old, To apply yourself on our waiting list for an allotment at any of our sites please contact the Association Membership Secretary
