We just want to take a moment to say a heartfelt thank you to our amazing community here in Cymmer.

Over the past couple of very busy weeks, your support has meant so much to us. From kind messages to thoughtful donations to the station, every gesture has been truly appreciated by our crew.

It’s been a demanding time with a high number of incidents, but knowing we have such strong community backing makes all the difference.

🚒 Busy Weeks for Cymmer Fire Station 🚒

It’s been a very busy couple of weeks for our crew at Cymmer Fire Station, attending over 50 calls across the community.

We’ve dealt with a range of incidents including wildfires, property fires, and other emergencies. With the warmer, drier weather, the risk of wildfires is much higher, so we’re asking everyone to please take extra care and help us keep Cymmer safe.

But it’s not just fires — we’re here whenever you need us. Our crew regularly responds to medical emergencies, supports the ambulance service, and attends road traffic collisions, alarm calls, and more.

• Make sure you have an escape plan

We’re always happy to help. If you’d like advice or a safety check at home, just send us a message. We can also fit smoke alarms free of charge if needed.

It’s been a very busy week again here at Cymmer Fire Station.

Over the past seven days, our crews have responded to over 14 separate incidents, including several Category 2 wildfires. These types of incidents can spread quickly and pose a serious risk to our communities, wildlife, and surrounding areas.

We’d like to thank everyone for their continued support and cooperation. A reminder to please stay vigilant, avoid lighting fires in open areas, and report anything suspicious or dangerous as soon as possible.

Our firefighters remain committed and ready to respond whenever needed — keeping our community safe is always our top priority.

🚒 Incident Response – Villiers Road, Bleangwynfi ❄️

Crews from Cymmer Fire Station attended an RTC make safe incident on Villiers Road after a van became stuck due to icy and snowy conditions.

Crews worked quickly to stabilise the vehicle and assist with its safe recovery using specialist equipment. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

⚠️ Winter driving reminder:
• Avoid steep hills if possible
• Many valley roads may not be gritted
• Slow down and allow extra braking distance
• Use higher gears to reduce wheel spin
• Carry warm clothing and keep your phone charged
• If you become stuck, stay with your vehicle where safe and call for help

Please take extra care when travelling in winter conditions and look out for each other.

Santa’s float has been rescheduled for this Sunday, 14th December 2025 — and he’ll be setting off from Afan Argoed at 4:20pm on his magical journey through the Afan Valley!
