The government repeatedly claims exiting the EU is 'the will of the people'. We need to put a stop to this claim by proving the strength of public support now, for remaining in the EU. A People's Vote may not happen - so vote now.

Meet our candidate for the Newport West by-election: Amelia Womack - Green Party Deputy Leader!

Amelia Womack was born and raised in Newport. The 34-year-old has been Deputy Leader of the Green Party of England and Wales since 2014. She qualified as a scientist in 2007 and has since worked with businesses to deliver social and environmental change in communities.

“Newport has higher unemployment than many places and lots of empty properties. A Green New Deal in Wales would create thousands of jobs in Newport in exciting industries which are growing around the world. We have seen ten years of austerity now which clearly hasn’t worked. A Green New Deal would create jobs, help people out of poverty and give the Newport economy a massive boost.”

Amelia grew up in Newport and says that Paul Flynn was an inspiration to her when she was young, leading to her getting involved in politics.

“I am proud of the rich history and resilience of my home. Newport West has had a radical free-thinking MP and I am ready to continue in Paul’s footsteps.”

It's really important that everyone concerned about climate change signs this petition. The children know that ecological collapse is close. They are striking, they are making their voices heard. We must sign this on their behalf no matter where we live.

We call on the Welsh Government to

1. Declare a Climate Emergency.
2. Ensure all current and future policies are consistent with averting further climate change and ecological collapse.
3. Enact legally-binding policy measures to reduce carbon emissions to net zero by 2025 and to reduce consumption levels.
4. Implement a Citizen's Assembly of Wales to oversee the changes.

Please sign. Please share.

This is achingly beautiful. The Gwent levels are achingly beautiful, William Davis's poem (known in Newport as the blind beggar) is achingly beautiful. Please share this to death, because if we can't persuade the Welsh Government not to back the M4 Black route, the death of the Levels will happen.

Many of us are morally compelled to resist this road scheme. Apart from the loss of unique natural habitat, this road will demolish our carbon budget. More road = more cars. Put the money into a light rail/tram system and help protect the future.

Everyone can play a part in protecting the future, maybe with just a click, maybe by coming along to our rally on 4th December in Cardiff. There will be hundreds present, all with one voice. Protect!
