All Zebra Crossings to have lights fitted
More lights and CCTV for alleyways
Roads to be pothole free
Get the council to become pro-active not re-active
Find out why the council waste our money on unnecessary projects
Planning applications to be scrutinised
Empty homes to be repaired and reused
Home repairs to be actioned faster
A permanent home for the Boxing Club

Ever wondered what a councillors job is well have a read,

A councillor’s primary role is to represent their ward or division and the people who live in it. Councillors provide a bridge between the community and the council. As well as being an advocate for local residents and signposting them to the right people at the council, you will need to keep them informed about the issues that affect them.
In order to understand and represent local views and priorities, you need to build strong relationships and encourage local people to make their views known and engage with you and the council. Good communication and engagement are central to being an effective councillor.
As a local councillor, your residents will expect you to:
• respond to their queries and investigate their concerns (casework)
• communicate council decisions that affect them
• know your patch and be aware of any problems
• know and work with representatives of local organisations, interest groups and businesses
• represent their views at council meetings
• lead local campaigns on their behalf.

Community leadership is at the heart of modern local government. Councils work in partnership with local communities and organisations – including the public, voluntary, community and private sectors – to develop a vision for their local area, working collaboratively to improve services and quality of life for citizens. Councillors have a lead role in this process.

Councils need clear strategies and policies to enable them to achieve their vision for the area, make the best use of resources and deliver services that meet the needs of local communities. As a councillor you will contribute to the development of these policies and strategies, bringing the views and priorities of your local area to the debate. How you do this will depend on the committees and forums you are appointed to. However, the council’s policy framework must be signed off by full council, on which every councillor sits.

Councils are not just service providers; they also act as regulators. As a councillor you may be appointed to sit on the planning and regulatory committee – considering issues such as planning applications, licences for pubs and restaurants and ensuring that businesses comply with the law. In these roles, councillors are required to act independently and are not subject to the group or party whip. Most councils arrange special training for this.

My Name is Leigh Godfrey,
Let me first begin by saying thank you, for taking the time and reading this post.

Alot like anyone reading this, I have become disengaged with all the political parties, and all they seem to do is blame each other. Why because they want to divide the nation, that way they can get away with whatever they want.

Personally this to me is unacceptable.
I grew up in New Addington; I went to Castle Hill primary school, selsdon high school and Croydon College. Growing up Time Bridge and Goldcrest were great youth centres to go to, Pitch and Putt was amazing.
New Addington has always been a tight community, But our resources are sadly lacking, We have a skate Park That’s less than brilliant build over playing fields, The housing situation is diabolical, To many empty homes which can be used, To many empty shops, New Addington deserves better,

That's why I have decided to put myself into the political ring,
I like you want change, more investment, I want to know what is going on, and I want to make a change a difference.

I believe that all residents in New Addington should be updated constantly about what’s happening, I want to help the brilliant local charities raise more funds, I want to make everyone feel safe walking the streets in New Addington, and I want the council to be transparent and honest to the residents 100% of the time.

I do not believe in name calling, Mud Slinging,
I believe in getting this done.

The system is broken lets fix it together.

Vote for me is a vote for change.
