Dear friends,
In our last meeting Trudie mentioned a quilt making project that involved groups. Isobel who is organizing it has sent us an email about it. It seems that it is maybe more for individuals, but you can judge for yourself if you wish to be involved. This is Isobel's email:
Dear Crawley Knitters,
My name is Isobel Sutherland and I work as a volunteer at Refugees Welcome - Crawley. You may be aware that next year Crawley New Town turns 70 and as a local organisation, we are wanting to do something to celebrate. We have decided on a community sewing project where people will come along every Wednesday from 6-7pm and sew a square based on their personal happy memory, the idea behind this is that we are all sharing happy memories now. The project will come to an end on 29th March and by this date we will aim to achieve a finished quilt which will be in the shape of a '70' to celebrate Crawley's 70th Birthday. Additionally, the finished product will be hung in Crawley museum which opens in April.
The project will start on Wednesday 23rd November, from 6-7pm at the Friary in town, I have attached a flyer to this e-mail with all the information on, would you be happy to advertise this community project to members in your group?
Finally, we are also collecting donations of any old clothes, fabrics or materials that people no longer need, would you happen to know if any members of your group have any of these things they're happy to donate?
Thank you so much and best wishes,
Isobel
