Starting 14th Sept, it’s National Inclusion Week 💜 This year’s theme is Build Trust. Navigate Change.

Trust is particularly important when someone reaches out for support around domestic abuse.

Feeling listened to. Being believed. Having choices respected. Knowing that the person you are speaking to understands that your circumstances may be different from somebody else’s.

At Coventry Haven Women’s Aid, inclusion means recognising women as individuals and working to remove the barriers that can make asking for help even harder.

Throughout we’ll be sharing some of the ways inclusion connects with our work, in our services, our partnerships, our workplaces and across our communities.

💛 We’ve achieved GOLD! 💛

We’re delighted that the Coventry IRIS programme, delivered by Coventry Haven Women’s Aid as Coventry’s specialist domestic abuse service and sole local provider of IRIS, has achieved Gold standard IRISi accreditation for 2026/27🌟

IRIS – Identification and Referral to Improve Safety – brings specialist domestic abuse expertise directly into primary care, helping GP teams to recognise domestic abuse, respond safely and confidently, and connect patients with specialist support.

Our Advocate Educators work alongside GP practices across Coventry, providing training and ongoing support to health professionals, as well as specialist advocacy and safety support for patients subjected to domestic abuse.

Achieving Gold is a lovely recognition of the commitment, knowledge and hard work of our IRIS team and of our continued commitment to delivering high-quality specialist domestic abuse services across Coventry 💜

A huge well done to everyone involved! 👏

Being in a relationship does not mean giving up your right to consent.

Consent should be freely given. It should never come through fear, pressure, threats, manipulation or coercion.

Being married to someone, living with them or having consented before does not mean consent can ever be assumed.

A healthy relationship respects your boundaries, your choices and your right to say no.

If something doesn’t feel right in your relationship, you can talk to us on

Can you help us prepare for the arrival of a little one? 🤱

One of the women we are supporting is due to have her baby and is in need of a pushchair and newborn car seat.

We would love to help her choose these safely for herself and her baby, so we are asking for gift vouchers for Smyths or Argos.

Vouchers of any value would be hugely appreciated and can be put together towards these essential items.

For safety and practical reasons, unfortunately we are unable to accept second-hand pushchairs or car seats for this request.

If you would like to help a mum welcome her baby with some of the essentials she needs, we would be so grateful. Please call 02476444077 and ask for Vicky, or email [email protected]

Thank you for always helping us turn kindness into something very real for the women and children we support🙏
