What a busy week it’s been at the Veterans Cottage!

A big thank you to everyone who’s popped in and brought along homemade cakes, biscuits, coffee, milk and all those little essentials. It’s all very much needed and very much welcomed!

We’ve been a little bit quieter than usual this week, as we’ve had lots going on behind the scenes — preparations, meetings, networking and, of course, fundraising.

A huge thank you to everyone who’s bought tickets for our Quiz Night on Friday 23rd October. We now have two tables full, so if you haven’t got your tickets yet, get them in now! It’s going to be a great craic 😁

And a massive thank you to everyone who donates to us monthly. Every single donation is so much appreciated and genuinely helps us keep things going. Thank you, thank you!

MEET MOZ -Moz & Ang Crafts

If you’ve met Moz, you’ll know he is not someone who sits quietly in the corner.

Moz is one of those people who always seems to have an idea brewing. He’s full of energy, creativity and enthusiasm, and once he gets an idea in his head, he wants to see what he can do with it.

THE MAN BEHIND MOZ & ANG CRAFTS

Moz served 10 years in the Army, before moving into the haulage industry, where he has spent the last 11 years as a lorry driver. He is also a serving councillor for North Northamptonshire, continuing to give his time to his local community.

But behind all of that is someone with a bubbly personality, a big heart and a genuine willingness to help people.

He’s practical, he’s creative, and he’s always thinking of the next thing he can make, improve or get involved with. Sometimes it feels like Moz has more ideas than hours in the day!

That creative side has now led to the launch of Moz & Ang Crafts, where he is turning his ideas and 3D-printing skills into a new business.

Moz is also proudly our first official volunteer, giving his time, skills and enthusiasm to support the Veterans Cottage and help us make a difference in the Armed Forces community.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE

One of Moz’s first projects is our special Lest We Forget illuminated light boxes.

Each one is individually 3D printed and assembled by Moz, creating something meaningful that people can keep and display while also helping raise funds for the Veterans Cottage in Corby.

For Moz, it’s a chance to combine something he enjoys doing with something that matters to him — supporting the Armed Forces community and giving something back.

A NEW BUSINESS WITH A BIG HEART

Moz & Ang Crafts is only the beginning. With Moz’s imagination and constant stream of ideas, we’re looking forward to seeing what comes next.

We’re proud to have Moz involved with the Veterans Cottage — not just because of what he makes, but because of who he is.

A veteran, a local councillor, a lorry driver, our first official volunteer, a creator, an ideas man and, above all, someone with a kind heart who genuinely wants to help.

A lovely, relaxed day at the Veterans Cottage this lovely Sunday.

We enjoyed a sound journey, mindfulness session, healthy lunch and each had the chance to enjoy some massage therapy. It was a lovely opportunity to slow down, recharge and reset.

Meet Gemma at Mama established — a veteran-owned business we’re proud to support.

You will probably know Gemma joined us as a Director earlier this year, and what an impact she has already had at the Cottage.

She brings so much to what we do — creativity, ideas, design and plenty of love. She’s behind much of our printing and design work, helping bring our ideas to life and giving the Cottage its own identity.

Gemma also uses her voice to represent women who have served and advocate for fellow veterans, helping ensure their experiences and voices are heard.

And somehow, she still gives us a whole day a week while balancing her own business and home life with her girls.

We’re incredibly grateful for everything she brings to the Cottage.
