Message from Highways

I am just updating you as to the Torver and Park Coppice roadworks.

Unfortunately last Friday there was a breakdown in plant so works could not go ahead. The poor weather last night also prevented any works from being carried out. As such, works at Torver will commence and complete tonight from 6:30pm with Park Coppice works now going ahead tomorrow night from 6:30pm. Should these arrangements change I will let you know.

One Network should be updated later to day to reflect these changes.

Another road closure has been put in place to allow Fibrus to carry out utility works which are expected to commence 15th June 2026 and anticipated to take 5 days to complete.

Please see map for the extent of the restriction showing that the road closure is on the C5018 (the road at the head of the lake as far as Tent Lodge)

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. Passage for Emergency Vehicles will be maintained where required for the duration of this restriction.

Should you have any queries in relation to this Order please contact the Highways Hotline by calling 0300 373 3306 or via the Westmorland & Furness Council website, quoting the reference TTROW/18780

Highways have been undertaking resurfacing works around Troughton Hall on the A593, and are moving up towards Park Coppice/Bowmanstead next week. There is a very poor section of carriageway present on the A593 at Torver, between Little Arrow and the turn-off for Coniston Camping Hoathwaite/The Old Rectory. Highways would like to repair this stretch if the resurfacing contractor finishes Troughton Hall earlier than programmed.

To facilitate this they have submitted an urgent road closure (for details see plan - marked in red) to enable them to close the road between 6:30pm on Friday and 6am on Saturday.

Access for residents and emergency services will be allowed when possible and if safe to do so and a signed diversion route will be in place.

They hope that the impact of the road closure will be minimal and will be mitigated by the repair of a poor stretch of road. They apologise for any inconvenience caused by these works. If they cannot complete the works on Friday then they will do their best to pick them up straight after completing the resurfacing at Park Coppice/Bowmanstead.
