The Longhorn cattle have returned to the heathland on Kinver Edge. By keeping shrubs and grasses low and invasive plants in check, conservation grazing helps us to manage this rare and special habitat, which, in turn, supports many species of wildlife.

Cows are generally docile animals but they can be inquisitive. When walking into a new area, always read the signage and follow its advice to keep you and your pet safe.

The herd are wearing GPS collars which alert the cows to virtual boundaries, 'drawn' by the farmer using a smartphone app. This 'No Fencing' system restricts and controls the cows' access to areas of sensitive habitat.

⚠Springtime cuteness alert from Kinver Edge🦉You have been warned!

Our ranger team recently spotted this beautiful tawny owl chick tucked away among the leaves, keeping a watchful eye from its woodland perch.

Tawny owls are a familiar sound in the woodland, but catching sight of a youngster like this is always a special moment. As these chicks grow, they’ll soon begin exploring the branches around the nest before taking their first flight.
