🚨 OLIVER has today been up for a catch-up with the team at Coalway Primary School 🏫 now that everyone is back, OLIVER spent time with the children during their lunch hour talking about what they did during the summer holidays and answered any questions they had. 🚨

🚨 We maintain a positive relationship with the school and work together to keep the children safe on various subjects throughout the year, we cover subjects such as:

👮‍♀️ ASB in the Community and what the children can do to help prevent it;
👮‍♀️ What the police do and how to contact the police and the emergency services;
👮‍♀️ Internet Safety;
👮‍♀️ Road Safety and;
👮‍♀️ Stranger Danger.

🚨 Talks have already been arranged for all of these subjects and catch up meetings with the staff are in the calendar. 🚨

The Forest team have noticed an increase in reports of people on E- scooters in the towns and villages in the Forest of Dean.

It is understandable that buying an e-scooter for yourself or your children can be tempting as they are readily available from lots of retailers.
The current law states that you can buy one, but you are not allowed to ride them on UK public roads, cycle paths or pavements. E-scooters are only to be ridden on private land.

Why is this?
e-scooters are classed as personal light electric vehicle (PLEV’s) so they are treated as motor vehicles and subject to the same legal requirements such as MOT, licensing, tax and insurance.

What happens if the police stop you?
Section 165a of the road traffic act allows police to seize any motor vehicle being used on the road which does not have the required documentation. Once seized the police can dispose of the e-scooter in accordance with force policy and the rider will possibly be liable to a fine, points on a driving license or both in certain situations.

Section 59 also allows police a warning if a vehicle is being driven in a manner which may cause alarm, distress or annoyance and this also results in the e-scooter being seized.
Police can seize any private scooter with the likelihood the e-scooter will be disposed of accordingly if they are being used on a public road or footpath and the rider may also be liable for prosecution.

We're appealing for witnesses after two dogs attacked a woman in Malswick, near Newent over the weekend.

The incident happened shortly before 3pm on Saturday (29 August) and left the victim with significant injuries to her arm, as well as other bite wounds on her body.

She had been delivering a parcel to a property in Malswick when two Cane Corsos attacked her. It is understood that the owner was not home at the time.

The woman, aged in her 30s, managed to call police and was able to get inside her vehicle for safety while she waited for help to arrive.

Officers attended and a police dog handler secured the dogs behind the gates. The owner was then contacted and both dogs were seized.

The woman was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol by paramedics and she remains there for further surgery and treatment.

A man was arrested on suspicion of having dogs dangerously out of control and has since been released on police bail while an investigation continues.

The local area is understood to be popular with dog walkers and investigating officers are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident, or from anyone who has any information relating to any previous incidents involving the two dogs.

Under Section 3 of the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991, it is an offence to have a dog dangerously out of control in any place, including all private property.

🚓 Criminal Damage – Cinderford 🚓

Officers from the Forest North Neighbourhood Policing Team have been investigating reports of criminal damage caused to plant displays throughout Cinderford High Street and the surrounding town area during the early hours of Thursday 27 August 2026.

Following a report from Cinderford Town Council, officers carried out enquiries, obtaining CCTV evidence and witness statements.

As a result of those enquiries, a 47-year-old woman from Coleford was arrested by neighbourhood officers, interviewed and subsequently charged with criminal damage.

She is due to appear before Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court in October 2026.

“We hope this positive action reassures the community of Cinderford that we take reports of antisocial behaviour and criminal damage seriously. We will investigate reports and work to bring offenders of this kind of behaviour to justice.”

High-Visibility Patrols Across the Forest Towns

Throughout today and this evening, officers from both Forest Neighbourhood Policing Teams, supported by colleagues from the Neighbourhood Support Team, have been conducting high-visibility foot patrols throughout the Forest towns. These patrols have focused on town centre locations with the aim of preventing and deterring anti-social behaviour (ASB), tackling criminality, and providing a reassuring presence within our communities in areas where our communities have raised concerns.

Some of the positive outcomes from today's activity include:

✅ A female who was wanted on warrant was arrested in Lydney after being recognised by officers on foot patrol.

✅ A male who was wanted on warrant was arrested in Cinderford after being identified by officers conducting foot patrols.

✅ Several hours of High Visibility foot patrol

✅ Two compliance checks were carried out at properties in Cinderford that are subject to Partial Closure Orders due to ongoing ASB issues. During one of these checks, a male was found inside a property in breach of the order and will now be prosecuted.

✅ A local youth from Bream has been issued with an Anti-Social Behaviour Warning following reports of their recent involvement in anti-social behaviour. Officers will continue to work with partners and take appropriate action to address issues affecting our communities.

✅ Officers have visited a number of local retailers across the Forest towns to provide crime prevention advice and follow up reports of shoplifting offences, offering reassurance and support to businesses affected by retail crime.

✅ As part of our community engagement work, officers have also deployed the Street Engagement Vehicle in Newent, Cinderford and Lydney. The vehicle is stocked with crime prevention information and resources and provides an opportunity for residents to speak with officers about local issues.

✅ Responded to Anti Social Behaviour incident in Newent Town Centre and engaged with several youths involved

In addition to enforcement and engagement activity, officers have spoken with many members of the public about our Community Alerts system. We are pleased that a number of residents signed up to receive updates and information about policing activity in their local area.

Forest south officers attended a serious fraud incident this evening. An elderly lady had been scammed out of a total of £11,000 pounds by people posing as lawyers who had found a substantial amount of Bitcoin and ask for a "release fee".
PCSO Peter Timmins stated " I would ask everyone to be extra vigilant when contacted by people with extraordinary claims of unexpected monetary gain. It is so easy to get pulled into these scams as the scammers are so believable.
These type of scammers are targeting primarily elderly people, but i would urge everyone to stop and think before agreeing to anything.
If it is too good to be true then inevitably always is.

🚨 Officers were out and about on ASB patrols in the Cinderford area when they were alerted to a vehicle being driven in a dangerous manner.

Officers managed to catch up with the vehicle and stop it. Checks were run on the driver and it transpired that he only had a provisional licence so he was given a section 59 for his manner of driving.

After dealing with this, officers were on foot patrol when they saw a vehicle drive past which smelt of cannabis.

Officers stopped the vehicle and discovered that there was cannabis in the vehicle. The driver was arrested for possession of an illegal drug and driving whilst under the influence of drugs. 🚨
