Has anyone lost a walker or had one stolen? This was found in the wooded area between the Community Centre and the back of the post office/dry cleaners near Tesco yesterday. It's at the Community Centre if it belongs to you.

Due to staff annual leave, the Community Centre will be CLOSED during the day on Monday 24 August until 7.15pm.

The Community Centre office opening hours for week beginning Monday 24 August:
Monday 24 August CLOSED
Tuesday 25 August OPEN 9am-1pm
Wednesday 26 August CLOSED
Thursday 27 August OPEN 9am-1pm
Friday 28 August CLOSED

Apart from Monday 24 August, the Centre will be open as usual for regular groups and activities.
Lunch Club will be going ahead on Wednesday 26 August as usual.

Monday 31 August the whole Centre will be CLOSED for Bank Holiday.

We will return to our usual opening hours from Tuesday 1 September.

On Thursday 6 August, our lead volunteer, Cyril Coppin, was at a training session at Everlast Gym in Colchester after which he had a steam room and a shower. On returning to his locker, he realised that his watch had been taken. The watch is a Garrard, it is gold, is inscribed on the back and was a retirement gift from his employer over 20 years ago. It was taken some time between 4.20pm and 4.40pm. It is of great sentimental value to him so we are asking that if anyone noticed anything suspicious or is offered this watch to please contact the Community Centre on 01206 853111. Or, if you have it, please return it to the gym.

Unfortunately, due to the forecast heat for this coming Wednesday, we have made the decision to cancel Lunch Club.

We will resume next week with fish and chips. If you had already ordered fish and chips for this week, we will order that for you for next week.

On Thursday 16th July, at approximately 9.15pm, someone entered our community centre and stole our Henry Hoover.

Unfortunately, this has had to be replaced at cost to the charity in order to ensure our centre remains clean for our users.

We have the incident captured on CCTV with clear pictures of the individual responsible, and this has been passed to Essex Police along with our crime report.

If you know anything about this incident, please contact us in the centre office (email: [email protected], or phone: 01206853111). Alternatively, you can contact the police quoting the crime reference number 'SP-136616-26-4242-IR04'.

Again today someone has dumped some books at the Community Centre. These were left in the porch but office was open and they should have been brought into the centre to check that we are able to take them. Unfortunately, some of these books we are unable to take therefore will have to pay to dispose of them.
If you wish to donate books we gladly accept them but only when the office is open so that we can check they are suitable.
As we have mentioned previously, our doorway, porch and foyer are covered by cctv so we will have footage of these bags being left.

Due to the expected heat again this week, we are unfortunately cancelling this weeks Wednesday Lunch Club. The next one will be on Wednesday 22 July and the meal will be cottage pie.
