Bagworth & Thornton Parish Council Bagworth & Thornton Parish Council

08/06/2026

This evening’s Parish Council meeting has had to be postponed because there isn’t enough Councillors available to attend.
Sorry for the late notice.
Every Council meeting we hold must have at least three Councillors in attendance but due to personal circumstances this wasn’t possible this evening.
Your Parish Council has two vacant seats which desperately need to be filled to prevent this happening again. Please take time to consider whether you can help your village by becoming a Parish Councillor.

Bagworth News
Thornton Village Residents

Your Parish Council has two vacancies for Bagworth Ward.
The Parish Council, YOUR Parish Council, administer the day to day running of the necessary work to keep the villages in good order. A Parish Councillor is the first line representative of local Government and, as such, has certain duties to perform.
The Parish Council meetings are held monthly on the 2nd Monday of each month - one month at Bagworth Community Centre and the alternative month at Thornton Community Centre.
Currently two of our councillors are experiencing times of illness which may mean they are away from their duties for several months. This leaves us with only 4 active councillors out of the 8 we should have.
The purpose of this post is an appeal for anyone who has the interests of Bagworth at heart to step forward and give it a try.
The work is not as onerous as it sounds and we are a friendly bunch who will offer help and advice where needed.
Please message us, call the Council Office, tel:+447580574093,
check the web-site https://www.bagworthandthornton-pc.gov.uk/ and we will endeavour to help and answer questions.
This really is a case of "Your Village Needs You"

We look forward to hearing from you.......😊

ANNUAL PARISH MEETING.
Thornton Community Centre, Monday April 27th, 2026 at 6.30 for tea/coffee and cakes with a chance to chat.
The meeting proper will begin at 7.00 pm.
What is an Annual Parish Meeting?
All Parish Councils must hold an Annual Parish Meeting. This is separate from the Annual Parish Council Meeting (which is on Monday 11th May).
We are having a slightly more informal Annual Parish meeting where we have invited various groups to give a short presentation on their work within the Parish.
We have invited Bosworth Parks Department (they run Bagworth Heath Woods); South Leicestershire Litter Wombles; Bean & Boat; a local farmer and the police to give presentations..
Your Parish Council will also give an update on the work they have done over the past year and it is your chance to meet the councillors.
We expect the meeting to last for about 90 mins and EVERYONE is welcome to attend. We hope to see as many people as possible there.

I am currently compiling the list of comments for September regarding the stopping of the Arriva 28 bus service through the Parish. If anyone has any further experiences they wish to share using the current system, please comment then I will add them to the list. Pressure has to be kept on Leicestershire County Council if we are to have the service reinstated or something better than is currently in place.

LC15; LC15a; LC15b.

The Parish Council are looking for your experiences with these new bus services. If you have any good or bad experiences can you please write them up in the comments?
The parish clerk will then make a record of them and every month will pass them on to Leicestershire County Council.
Thank you for your help in trying to make this service fit for purpose.

LCC have sent through a packet sized timetable for the LC15, LC15A & LC15B new routes. Copies will be printed tomorrow and left in both Community Centres, both shops and the pub (and anywhere else that will take them). If you need any help understanding it please do not be afraid to ask and we will try and work it out together.
