So far this year in Chulmleigh, South West Water have discharged raw sewage straight into the Little Dart River for the equivalent of 46.4 days.

In February, they pumped untreated wastewater into the river for 26 out of 28 days. This is absolutely disgusting.

I have written to SWW and Pennon Group (their owners) to ask for an explanation and a reasoning as to why Chulmleigh residents should continue to pay for sewerage when its just being allowed to flow from our homes into the river.

Last year South West Water made roughly £12 million a month in profit. Today a judge has handed them a £1.8 million fine, or 4.5 days worth of profit.

The parasite outbreak that hospitalised 140 people went on for 54 days.

Water should never have been allowed to fall into the hands of private companies.

Four people were hospitalised and there were more than 140 cases of sickness and diarrhoea in Devon.
