Afternoon all

You may have seen or heard about an incident in Chorley over the weekend and we wanted to give you the latest information.

We were called at 6.28pm on Saturday (September 5th) to a report of racially aggravated assault on Harpers Recreation Ground, Harpers Lane, Chorley,

A six-year-old boy who was playing in the park had been approached by two older children and that a racist word had been written on his forehead and arm with a marker pen.

This was obviously very distressing for the boy and his family, and they are being supported by officers.

We are treating this extremely seriously and an investigation is underway and enquiries are ongoing to try to identify the offenders, who are described as two boys aged 10-11.

Our enquiries include carrying out house to house enquiries and looking at CCTV. We are also visiting local schools.

Officers will also be out and about in the park and surrounding area today carrying out enquiries and as reassurance. Please feel free to approach an officer if you have any information or concerns.

☀️ Hot weather update ☀️

Due to high temperatures, our waste and recycling crews will be starting their rounds slightly earlier TOMORROW (Wednesday 12 August) and Thursday (13 August), to keep safe in the heat.

🚛 Please make sure your bins are out by 6.00am, not 7.00am, on your collection day.
