PARISH COUNCIL REACHES NEW HIGHTS

Finstock Parish Council on Mt Everest, who would have thought it !

On November 4th our very own Parish Chair Marc Thompson will fly to Kathmandu in Nepal with the aim of climbing Mt Everest to raise awareness and funding for Men's Mental Health charity MANUP.
Marc is aiming to try and change the stigma behind men's mental health so decided to raise awareness and funds for the charity.
Having already raised over £1000 so far he aims to plant a flag with Finstock Parish Council on it at Kala Patthar, some 18,520 ft and a few kilometres short of the summit.
We wish him safe travels and, should you wish to support our Parish chair and the charity MANUP.
you can donate via the link below to his just giving page.

⚠️Please note⚠️

The Parish Council are having steps put in today between the pavilion and the cemetery to make access much safer during the winter months when it has become very slippery especially to some of our senior residents.
We are also installing a hand rail.
The contractors will be there for two days.
For your own safety, please avoid access while they are working.
Thank you in advance

Finstock Parish Council Community Award.

This year, I saw the parish council present the Village Community Award for outstanding contributions to The Finstock Ale Festival Team.

Parish Chair Marc Thompson presented the award to Rod Ireland at this year's annual ale festival, which received this on behalf of the whole team.
This was the 11th annual event, and what an event it was with the sun shining, great food, and a huge selection of incredible craft beers.
The festival, which now has a national following, attracted beer lovers from Cheltenham and as far as London.
And is recognised with real ale lovers as one of the top events in the country to sample beers you wouldn't get a chance to try.

The awards recognise their outstanding contributions to supporting our village hall.
You may not be aware, but all the profits made at each ale festival, including the sub events they attend, all go to the village hall.
Without these funds, the hall would probably close in time.

Im sure you will join us in saying a huge well done holding another great event in our village along with offering out thanks to supporting the hall.

50 years of service.

It would be very rare to find 4 Parish Council chairs, that between them have served for nearly 50 years, and are still living in our village.
It also marks 50 years of the Finstock History Society which Roy Townsend seated in the photo was one of the founder members.
Roy now 92 is the oldest living former chair.

Followed by Mike Woodfield who served for 29 years on Finstock Parish Council.
Mike was awarded The Finstocks Community Award for services to the village in 2024.

He was proceeded by Julie Stringfellow, Finstocks first female chair from parish council records.

The current chair for the past 3 years is Marc Thompson who has lived in the village 50 years this year.
The photo is taken featuring the recent edition of a second blue plaque placed in finstock remembering John Kibble, local stonemason and historian 1865-1951

We understand this may be an adjustment, and we appreciate your help in making sure your waste is ready for collection.
