A gifted break, a campervan, and the freedom to switch off.

Meet Jordine, Sophie and Tanner — the woof!

Jordine is an Air and Space Operations Officer in the RAF, while Sophie is a musician in the Royal Marines Band Service. Tanner is their rescue dog and, just as importantly, a therapy dog supporting palliative care patients, including veterans.

For their gifted break, the three of them set off on an unforgettable west-to-east adventure around Scotland, starting in the Lake District and travelling through some truly spectacular places.

Their journey took them to Ullswater, Luss and Loch Lomond, Glencoe, Fort William and Ben Nevis, Arisaig and Mallaig, the Isle of Skye, Fort Augustus and Loch Ness, the Cairngorms and Ballater, before finishing in St Andrews.

When we asked what they loved most about the camper, their answer really summed it up:

"The freedom and ability to go anywhere and switch off from the rest of the world. The ability to disconnect and decide where you want to drive to and stay for the night."

And when we asked whether the break had made a difference to their mental health, the answer was simply:

"100%!!!"

This is exactly why Sponsored Breaks exist. Having the opportunity to step away from everyday life, explore somewhere new, spend quality time together and simply switch off can make such a difference.

💚A well-deserved break for an NHS family

This family enjoyed a relaxing getaway to in Nuneaton with their three children.

With Warwick Castle just a short drive away, they were able to enjoy quality family time while escaping the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Their camper made the trip simple and affordable – no need for lots of equipment, expensive hotels, or eating out for every meal. Instead, they could focus on what really mattered spending uninterrupted time together.

As one recipient shared, the break had a real positive impact on their family's mental health, giving them precious time to reconnect without the usual distractions.

We're proud to support families like this, where one partner works as a care home assistant in the NHS. Every day, NHS staff and those working alongside our health and care services dedicate themselves to looking after others. 💚A break that made all the difference.

After 30 years serving in the RAF as a Rotary Navigator on Puma and Chinook helicopters, our latest guest knows just how important it is to take time to recharge.

He and his long-term partner, Katie, escaped to Bwlchgwyn Farm, overlooking Fairbourne and Barmouth, with breathtaking views across the entire Llyn Peninsula.

"The best thing about the campervan? The freedom of movement, plus the opportunity to lie on the bed and simply watch the stunning views."

The break came at exactly the right time. Following difficult changes at work, our guest had been struggling with his mental health, while Katie has been recovering from emergency life saving surgery. Together, they needed space to step away from the demands of everyday life.

"Absobloominglutely! We both needed this time away just for us. No life demands of kids, pets, and work. We totally unwound."

One unexpected bonus? Katie has dreamed of owning a campervan for years, and thanks to Sponsored Breaks, they were able to experience the lifestyle for themselves.

Another family, another reminder of why Sponsored Breaks exists. 💚

This lovely family recently returned from a much-needed respite break, and reading their words reminded me exactly why we do what we do.

"We had the opportunity to explore a part of the UK we'd never visited before. We loved discovering Ironbridge, Telford and Shrewsbury, and visited three English Heritage sites and four National Trust properties along the way.

The convenience of simply parking up and settling in, with no tent to put up, made such a difference. It meant we could relax from the moment we arrived.

Our two boys both have ADHD, so having wide open spaces to run, explore and just be themselves was incredibly important. They absolutely loved it, and so did we.

My husband is a very busy teacher, and I'm a Team Leader in the Army, so opportunities to truly switch off and focus on each other as a family are incredibly rare. This break gave us exactly that – time to reconnect, make memories and simply enjoy being together.

Thank you so, so much. It was exactly what we needed."

💚Another Sponsored Break making a real difference.

Sponsored Breaks are privileged to support a serving Armed Forces family with a respite break in our campervan, giving them the opportunity to reconnect, recharge and create precious memories together.

Our recipients are both currently serving in the Armed Forces, with one serving as a Medic Submariner and the other in Mine Warfare, based at Faslane in Scotland.

They enjoyed the break alongside their young daughter, travelling through the beautiful landscapes of North Wales, visiting Harlech, Porthmadog and Portmeirion while spending valuable time with family they hadn't seen in over a year.

Here's what they shared about their experience:

"Having both the time and transport to reconnect with family was incredibly important for us. It gave us the opportunity to be together, talk, go on walks, travel, and strengthen those family connections."

Following the loss of a close family member earlier this year and the demands of military life, this break provided something many families rarely get – the chance to slow down, switch off and simply be together.

Their daughter loved every minute of the adventure, especially sitting up front in the campervan, pointing out every dog she spotted and dancing along to the radio.

Sometimes it's these simple moments that become the most treasured memories.

When asked if the break had improved their mental wellbeing, their answer was a resounding YES:

"We returned to work feeling refreshed, reconnected, and much better mentally after spending that quality time together."

The family also praised the campervan, saying it had everything they needed, making their trip comfortable and stress-free.

The only suggestion they had?

"It would be wonderful to have more of what you offer all over the UK!"

Sponsored Breaks is on a mission ,one break at a time!

Here's an account of a recent beneficiary courteously from all our amazing sponsors and supporters.

"We had a fantastic weekend exploring North Wales in the campervan! After a few hectic weeks at work, we threw a few essentials into a bag and hit the road.

David is in the Army, and I work in military accommodation as well as serving as an RAF Reservist, so this break was exactly what we needed to properly switch off and recharge.

Simon and Harriet made the collection process really easy and welcoming, and from the moment we set off, the adventure began.

We started at Shell Island before heading to Harlech, Barmouth and Anglesey. We watched some incredible sunsets along the way and spent hours at Newborough Beach, which was absolutely stunning.

The van itself was perfect. Comfortable, well-equipped, and had everything we needed (and more) for a relaxing getaway.

The bed was really comfy, and it was such a lovely touch that the table and chairs were provided too we loved sitting out in the mornings with a coffee taking in the views.

Extremely grateful to Simon and Harriet for allowing us access to their fantastic van!"
