🆕 Local Conservatives launch ‘Contract’ with key pledges ahead of 2027 Cheshire West and Chester Council Elections 🆕

The Cheshire West and Chester Conservative Group, led by Cllr Adrian Waddelove (Farndon, Con) and Cllr Simon Eardley (Saughall and Mollington, Con), have today announced their 6 key pledges to deliver for residents ahead of the Cheshire West and Chester Council elections in 2027.

✅Our 6 Pledges and Contract with residents:

1. Deliver a £200 million Highways Recovery Plan

We will deliver a £200 million Highways Recovery Plan to tackle potholes, repair drains, clean gulleys and restore pavements, helping you travel safely and reliably.

2. Minimise Council Tax increases by cutting waste

We will launch an immediate and full review of spending, stop unnecessary use of consultants, freeze non-essential recruitment and use technology to deliver improved services more efficiently – helping keep costs down for you.

3. Support local businesses to energise high streets

We will give new small businesses targeted rate relief in their first year and bring empty properties back into use to revive our towns and village centres by ensuring planning applications are completed within 12 weeks.

4. Create cleaner neighbourhoods for all

We will introduce new dedicated teams of ‘Community Action Squads’ entirely focused on practical activities such as street cleaning, protecting nature, removing graffiti, tackling fly-tipping and keeping public spaces well maintained.

5. Revive our towns, protect our villages

We will, on our first day in office, demand the Government review our local housing targets so we can protect green spaces, focus development on brownfield land and in town centres, and ensure infrastructure is delivered before new housing.

6. Your Council, focused on you

We will improve response times to resident queries and community communications, and increase local councillor funding so decisions and investment happen closer to residents and communities.

Our team enjoyed a really good day of campaigning in Upton today. The glorious spring sunshine certainly made us smile and the positive response as we met hundreds of residents was very encouraging. Thanks to everyone who chatted to us and took the opportunity to share their views with us about local issues and the election next May for a new Mayor of and Warrington. Following our report to CWAC about the severe deterioration of the road surface on Flag Lane South, we’ve received this response! Quite unbelievable in our opinion and I’m sure anyone who lives or who has used Flag Lane South recently will have a different view.

Yesterday the team took action to report the severe deterioration of the road surface on Flag Lane South. This has been reported to CWAC who have been asked to inspect this area as a priority. We will update you on developments but in the meantime the reporting reference is HW829477619.

Good to have the team out and about in Upton again today, looking out for local issues and supporting Ben Fletcher for Cheshire & Warrington

Great to be back out in today meeting residents and chatting to them about issues of concern. News For Upton-by-Chester

Labour's MP for North & is content for our green spaces to be built upon. She supports this approach from her government. The announcement below is important news.

The view of CWaC Planning officers is this: ‘Any land in the green belt can be designated as grey belt.’ This approach is already being used to 'deliver' development in the area in places which would previously almost certainly have been out of the question.

A future Conservative Government will change this and restore vital protections for our communities and the countryside. We need more houses - but in the right place, with the right infrastructure.

There are just so many potholes around Upton at the moment. When our team was out meeting residents in the Demage Lane area yesterday, we took the opportunity to report this one. Ref: CE826161940. We hope it will be repaired soon!
