Heading off on holiday? Keep your valuables at home safe 🏡✈️

Here are a few simple things you can do to avoid becoming a target for thieves:
- Keep valuables out of sight and away from windows, and hide your keys so they can’t be reached from outside.
- Use a timer for lights to make it look like someone’s home, and ask someone you trust to keep an eye on your home.
- Pause regular deliveries so it doesn’t look like no one's home.

If you see anything suspicious, report it on our website, live chat or call 101.

🌿 It’s Our Grass Cutting Season 🌿
We carry out grass cutting in June and October in rural areas, as well as on the A13 (Basildon), A130 Canvey, A127, A1245, and A133.

Some verges will be left temporarily uncut to provide sanctuary for scarce wildflower species (where it is safe to do so). The rest remain part of a targeted grass-cutting strategy to enhance safety by improving visibility on roads and junctions.

If we receive reports of safety issues, we will carry out some clearance where possible. However, on private land, we ask landowners to maintain their vegetation as part of their duty of care to keep the travelling public safe. This includes clearing ditches, cutting back trees, hedges, shrubs, and foliage adjacent to our road network, particularly where they obscure signs.

Please take additional care throughout the bird nesting season. 🐦🌸

On Sunday 7th June, our Seniors’ Day Trip to Tiptree Tea Rooms was a great success, with plenty of smiles, laughter, and good company throughout the day.

Organised by Deputy Town Mayor Lisa Kelly, the trip gave everyone the chance to enjoy a relaxing outing, delicious refreshments, and a catch-up with friends old and new.

We were fortunate that the weather held out for us, making the day even more enjoyable. From the moment we arrived until it was time to head home, fun was had by all!

A big thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the day such a memorable occasion. We look forward to seeing you on our next adventure!

Our Bandstand Maintenance Project is now nearing completion, and we hope you’ll agree it’s looking absolutely fantastic!

The bandstand has been given a new lease of life and is looking as good as new, ready to take centre stage for community events, live music, celebrations, and special occasions.

It’s been wonderful to see this much-loved landmark restored, helping to keep it at the heart of our town for everyone to enjoy. Thank you to residents, visitors, local businesses, and community groups for your patience and support while the work has been taking place.

We can’t wait to welcome everyone and see the bandstand full of activity this summer and going forward . We would encourage residents, community organisations, and local businesses to make use of this fantastic facility and consider hiring it for events, performances, promotions, and community activities. The town council also offer a grant to cover hire costs so please contact the office for more information or check our website.

❤️ A cherished community space, refreshed and ready for the future.

Exciting Improvements at the Bandstand

We are pleased to let residents know that work has commenced today on a project to enhance both the safety and appearance of our much-loved bandstand.

The improvement works include the installation of decorative railings with finials around the circumference of the bandstand, together with new handrails on both existing access steps. All metalwork will be finished in the Town Council’s blue, creating an attractive and consistent look.

These enhancements will help improve accessibility and safety while adding a beautiful finishing touch to one of our town’s key community features.

We think it already looks fantastic and are looking forward to seeing the completed project. We hope residents will agree that the new railings complement the bandstand perfectly and help preserve it for future generations to enjoy.
