Carlton in Lindrick Parish Council Parish Council

14/06/2021

There has understandably been strong representations made by residents visiting the St John’s Church burial ground this weekend.

The standards of grasscutting and maintenance are certainly not of the quality we are accustomed to and for that, I apologise.

The contractor responsible for the work has agreed to give urgent attention to correcting the conditions on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of this week the 16th, 17th and 18th June when the usual standards will be re-established in an area which is so important to all of us.

Once again, I apologise for the unacceptable temporary conditions.

Cemetery Gates – Hundred Acre Lane

There has been a good and much appreciated response to security concerns in relation to the gates.

Please note that the Council has now arranged for the gates to be removed for repair purposes and have not therefore been “stolen”.

The gates will be reinstated at the appropriate time.

Further to the information on disturbances at the Hundred Acre Lane Cemetery I can now report that on the night 27th April 2020 additional unauthorised activity at the cemetery was identified on CCTV footage.
The police were alerted and their prompt and decisive response resulted in the offenders being apprehended.

The Parish Council is grateful to all those involved in securing this outcome.

Cemetery Gates – Hundred Acre Lane
On the night of Saturday 25th April 2020 CCTV cameras at the new Cemetery recorded the presence of “hooded” individuals at the site and the cameras became covered.

The incident has been reported to the Police.

Most of you will be aware of the main entrance gates being stolen on previous occasions and whilst there can be no certainty that this is to be attempted again, for obvious reasons there is a suspicion that this could happen at any given time.

The vast majority of residents are self-isolating and staying at home in line with the current health advice to avoid the onset of the Coronavirus and it is essential that this should continue.

However, if some of you are key workers or have valid reasons to be travelling along Hundred Acre Lane at any time the Parish Council would be grateful if any suspicious sightings at the Cemetery could be reported to the police on 101 or by email to [email protected].

Many thanks, please stay safe.

Visiting the Burial Ground

There are many difficult and sensitive issues arising from the virus pandemic, none more so than advice on restrictions on those wishing to attend graves of loved ones in the burial ground.

However, we have a duty to request that visitors refrain from attending whilst the current health circumstances prevail.

The larger Local Authorities are being required to prohibit access to Cemeteries unless for funeral purposes, and Parish Councils are being required to follow the same principals in restricting visitor attendances.

It is with regret that the Parish Council has to bring this to your attention but it would be remiss of us not to do so.

Coronavirus “Arrangements”
The Community of Carlton in Lindrick is advised that in accordance with current guidance the Civic Centre and the Youth Centre are temporarily closed to the Public.

The Parish Council has suspended all meetings until at least the 12th May 2020 when further guidance will be reviewed.

In the meantime you are all encouraged to follow health guidance which is being reviewed and publicised every day in the media.

The Clerk to the Parish Council, Peter Goulding or Helen Brown (Administration Assistant) 01909 541127 can be contacted if any urgent Parish Council issues arise and we will update our information as and when there is any change in circumstances.

Finally we would like to emphasise that the importance of being a “good neighbour” has never been more essential than it is now. If you are or become aware of any resident who may be facing difficulties because of “loneliness” or isolation do not hesitate to do whatever you can to help.
