The UK-Australia partnership drives our prosperity and keeps us safe 🇬🇧🇦🇺

Our FTA and CPTPP membership is set to boost the economy by ÂŁ2 billion every year.

AUKUS is our most strategically significant defence and security partnership in a generation. Together with the United States, we are committed to a free and open Indo-Pacific, where states can make their own choices free from coercion.

As two proud island nations, we’ve long known the vital importance of freedom of navigation and maritime trade. Through our continued collaboration, we can help ensure our trade routes remain resilient.

At this year’s AUKMIN meetings, UK and Australian foreign and defence ministers discussed how to strengthen our security and support economic growth in uncertain times.

A great opportunity for Queensland students 🇦🇺🇬🇧

The Queensland Government has launched the inaugural Westminster Prize — giving eight Year 9 students and two teachers an all‑expenses‑paid opportunity to visit the UK.

Travelling from Brisbane to Canberra to London, winners will experience the Westminster system first‑hand and build their understanding of civics, citizenship and democratic participation.

This is a fantastic chance to learn how democracies work — at home and around the world.

📢 Applications are now open for Year 9 students across Queensland: https://bit.ly/4tS5qxV

Louise Cantillon, British Consul General to NSW, visited Broken Hill this week to join the community in celebration of the 90th anniversary of the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia in NSW — an organisation that’s a true lifeline for rural and remote communities.
A big thank you to Roy Butler MP for hosting and showing Louise around, and to the RFDS team for such a warm welcome.

We were also proud to reflect on the longstanding UK–RFDS connection — from 1954, when Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s visit to Broken Hill saw the title “Royal” bestowed on the service, through to today, with His Majesty King Charles III as Patron of RFDS Friends in the UK.

Beyond the anniversary event, Louise also had a great chat to Patrick from ABC Broken Hill, and met with local community initiatives alongside Ron Hoenig MP — including Don Barron’s, Feeding Friends, Maari Ma Health's Primary Health Care Centre, and the unforgettable Petah’s Silverton Outback Camels. The Outback Ark & Farm Stay.

Thank you to the wonderful Broken Hill community for such a warm and memorable visit!
