Did you know, heavier garden waste such acorns or fallen fruit that has spoiled can be added to your garden waste recycling bin? But if you have a lot piled up it may be worth splitting across a couple of collections so the bin doesn’t become too heavy to be moved and emptied safely 🙏

Please ensure your recycling is clean, dry and loose inside the wheelie bin - not in bags, sacks or liners! The bin crew have been trained to check inside your bin and leave it unemptied if they spot plastic bags or liners full of waste, with a tag explaining why

Say ‘Boo!’ to food waste this Halloween. Leftover pumpkin whether cooked or carved can be recycled using your food waste caddy! 👻

Don’t be alarmed if the bin crew look inside your main recycling bin - they’re trained to check for items that can’t be recycled! Food waste, dirty nappies, clothes/towels/bed covers cannot be extracted properly from the tonnes of recycling at the facility where recycling is taken to be processed, causing issues for the machinery & hand-sorting. Place nappies in the rubbish & recycle clothes etc separately

Did you know, disposable nappies, food waste, & textiles cannot go in your main recycling bin? Please put nappies in your rubbish bin; recycle food separately in your outdoor food waste bin; and use our separate, weekly kerbside recycling collection service for old clothes, towels, bed sheets and duvet covers. When you need rubbish gone quickly, a cheap, quick deal can be hard to resist. But rogue traders can use convincing online ads and tempting offers to seem just like legitimate businesses.

So, before paying someone to take your rubbish away, ask for their licence number, check it on the Environment Agency register and make sure they’ll give you a receipt.

Remember: if it looks too good to be true, it probably is.
