Dear Members,

Following the devastating events in Nepal, we would like to invite members of the Royal British Legion Camberley Branch to come together and show our support and solidarity with our Nepalese friends, colleagues and their families.

A Candlelight Vigil is being held on Saturday 5 September at 7.30pm, outside Surrey Heath Borough Council Offices, Camberley.

For those who are able to attend, we hope that as many Branch members as possible will join us. It will be an opportunity to stand together, offer our thoughts and prayers for those who have lost their lives and those affected by the disaster, and show our support for the Nepalese community at this very difficult time.

BROOKWOOD MILITARY CEMETERY – 6 SEPTEMBER 2026

A reminder to our members

On Sunday 6 September, members of the Royal British Legion Camberley Branch will be attending the monthly Last Post Ceremony at Brookwood Military Cemetery, which begins at 3.00 pm at the RAF Shelter.

Members who wish to attend are also invited to join the annual commemoration of the Jewish ‘Secret War’ casualties, taking place beforehand:

2.15 pm
Brookwood Memorial to the Missing, 1939–45
Brookwood Military Cemetery, Surrey

The commemoration will be followed by the 3.00 pm monthly Last Post ceremony at the RAF Shelter, also within Brookwood Military Cemetery.

There is no booking necessary, and members are very welcome to attend either or both ceremonies.

We look forward to seeing members there as we remember and honour those who served and made the ultimate sacrifice.

The Royal British Legion Camberley Branch is deeply saddened by the terrible and tragic news coming from Nepal.
Our heartfelt thoughts and sympathy are with our dear Gurkha colleagues, Nepalese friends, their families and communities at this very difficult time.
We know that many within our local Gurkha and Nepalese community may have family and friends affected by these tragic events.
Please know that you are very much in our thoughts.
As a Branch, we stand alongside our Gurkha and Nepalese friends and colleagues. If there is anything we can do to offer support, help or assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

The Camberley Branch of the RBL and The Remembrance Community Committee is delighted to announce that, subject to the agreed parade arrangements, the Lord-Lieutenant of Surrey will be represented at this year's Camberley Remembrance Sunday Parade by Brigadier Paul Evans OBE DL, who will take the salute on her behalf.
This is an important recognition of the significance of Camberley's Remembrance Sunday Parade and reflects the importance of our community coming together to honour all those who have served. Please read our full press release below.
