SEE BELOW ENVIRONMENT AGENCY UPDATE FOR MAY 2026

Dear Rolleston Parish Council
This month we submitted our bid for Local Levy funding to the Trent Regional Flood and Coastal Committee to support the next stage of the proposed Property Flood Resilience (PFR) scheme. The funding request is to undertake property suitability surveys for those residents who have registered an interest in PFR. If approved, we aim to complete these surveys during this financial year. The surveys will help us understand what measures may be suitable for individual properties, provide more certainty around scheme costs, and inform the next stage of the project. Subject to the outcome of these surveys and confirmation that a scheme remains viable, we will continue to look for opportunities to secure funding for delivery in future years.
We will continue to keep the Parish Council informed as the project develops and as further updates become available.

The next meeting of Rolleston on Dove Parish Council is on Monday 8th June 2026 at 7pm at the Old Grammar School Room. Agendas are available on the Parish Council's website at least three working days before each meeting. Meetings are held in public and everyone is welcome to attend. There is a short public open session at the beginning of each meeting to enable members of the public to address the council. The agenda can be viewed here:

Thanks to our 2 dedicated volunteers, Simon and Gordon, the Croft Bridge and the white railings and posts alongside Burnside from the Spread Eagle Bridge to the Almshouses, have now all been cleaned, sanded and painted! With the new summer bedding planting in the flower troughs and the bunting in place, it is all looking very smart and ready for Rolleston Transport Festival on Monday.

Georgina has asked that any reports of antisocial behaviour, neighbour issues or crime need to be reported to either 101 or online to the Staffordshire Police website. Any social/community events people would like her and colleagues to attend, for example to bring police cars or build community connections, should contact her directly via email.

Rollestonian of the Year
At last night's Annual Parish Meeting, Lee Cooke was presented with the award for Rollestonian of the Year 2025. Congratulations to Lee who received the award following numerous nominations from villagers for her tireless work as Church Warden of St Mary's.
