Get ready to turn up the volume on reading!

The Summer Reading Challenge 2026 launches in Staffordshire Libraries on Saturday 4 July.

This year’s theme, Read to the Beat, mixes books and music to make reading even more fun. Created with The Reading Agency and Universal Music Group UK, it’s all about helping children discover new stories and enjoy reading all summer long.

✨ Keep an eye out — we’ve got some fantastic events and activities planned for your little ones over the summer holidays!

🧵 Common Threads is back at Lichfield Cathedral

From 4 June – 5 July, the beautiful Common Threads table runner, created in partnership with The Fabric Vault returns to the Cathedral.

This 13-metre community artwork brings together hundreds of textile squares, each one telling its own personal story.

Come and explore it during visitor opening hours.
