⚠️ WARNING: Think carefully before joining a degree programme just because someone promises you easy money.
Many agents earn commissions for recruiting students. Some are encouraging people to enrol in degree courses even if they don't have basic qualifications such as GCSEs or A-levels.
What they don't tell you:
❌ A degree course is not just "2 days a week."
❌ You may spend several more days every week completing assignments.
❌ If your academic skills are weak, the coursework can be very difficult.
❌ You may lose valuable time that could have been spent working or improving your skills.
💰 Student Finance = Loan
💰 Universal Credit = Benefit
⚠️ If you take student finance, your Universal Credit may be reduced or stopped depending on your circumstances.
Before signing up, make sure you fully understand the financial consequences.
Some people end up struggling with assignments, paying others to do their work, or dropping out without gaining useful skills or career opportunities.
Before you enrol:
✅ Check the entry requirements.
✅ Understand the workload.
✅ Research the institution.
✅ Get independent advice about your finances and benefits.
✅ Make sure the course is right for your goals.
Don't let anyone pressure you into a decision. A degree should be about education and career development—not just access to funding.

Lancashire County Council: "Here's £55 million for footpaths."
Burnley residents: "What about the potholes, crumbling roads, traffic congestion, and resurfacing we've been asking for?"
Council: "Did you say more footpaths?"
The footpaths were already fine. Nobody was queuing up at council meetings demanding footpath upgrades. Meanwhile, roads are full of potholes, drivers sit in endless traffic delays, and road repairs seem to have vanished from the priority list.
£55 million spent solving a problem nobody was talking about, while the problems everyone talks about are left untouched.
It's amazing how quickly councils can find money for the wrong things.

If a road has 100 potholes and a perfectly good footpath beside it, what gets £55 million?
The footpath.
Welcome to modern local government.
Residents: "Please fix the roads."
Council: "Best we can do is more pavement."
No wonder people are losing faith in local priorities.

Thank you for the update, but residents do not need repeated reminders that the road will reopen when the work is eventually completed. What we need is action to reduce the disruption and get the project finished as quickly as possible.
The real issue is that progress on site appears far too slow. The road remains closed, traffic delays continue, and local residents and businesses are paying the price. Machinery is often standing idle, there appears to be little or no work taking place at weekends, and activity during the week does not always seem sufficient for a project causing this level of disruption.
Rather than providing another update about expected completion dates, can you explain what is being done to accelerate the work? Have the contractors been challenged about their timetable? Has weekend working, extended hours, or additional shifts been considered to reduce the impact on residents?
The closure was justified as an improvement project, but the improvement will mean little if people are left dealing with months of avoidable delays. Residents would like to see the council pushing for faster delivery, not simply reporting on the delays after they occur.

Breaking news: the road will reopen when the roadworks are finished.
Thanks for the update, but even schoolchildren could have worked that one out.
Residents don't need another Facebook post explaining the obvious. We need someone pushing contractors to work faster.
No weekend working. Limited activity during the week. Traffic chaos every day.
Less posting. More pressure.
The question isn't when the road will reopen.
The question is: why isn't everything possible being done to get it reopened sooner?

Many residential streets across the UK are becoming increasingly difficult and unsafe to drive through due to heavy parking on both sides of the road. This problem becomes even worse during school drop-off and pick-up times, where traffic congestion, blocked visibility, and dangerous driving conditions put both drivers and children at risk.
I strongly urge the UK Government, local councils, and MPs to seriously consider introducing more one-way systems on narrow residential streets, avenues, and roads where appropriate. A well-planned one-way system could significantly improve traffic flow, reduce long queues, ease pressure on road edges and pavements, and create a much safer environment for pedestrians, especially school children.
This change could: • Improve the smooth flow of traffic
• Reduce congestion and unnecessary delays
• Increase road safety for children and families
• Make streets less stressful for residents and drivers
• Help emergency vehicles access roads more easily
Our communities deserve safer, smarter, and more efficient roads. It’s time for councils and decision-makers to take this issue seriously and explore practical long-term solutions that benefit everyone.
Please share if you agree that road safety and traffic improvements should be a priority across the UK.
