🚨 OUR COUNCILLOR WAS ALREADY ASKING THE RIGHT QUESTION 🚨

This week, Councillor Nikolas Price was due to challenge the Leader of Worcestershire County Council over Labour’s imposed North/South unitary split and ask whether the Council should seek urgent legal advice.

That question is already published in the Council papers.
Now, just days later, the Government has PAUSED Worcestershire’s local government reorganisation following new legal advice.

You really couldn’t make it up.

Labour pushed ahead.
Labour imposed the model.
Labour created uncertainty.

Now Labour has hit the brakes.

🩵 Reform has consistently argued that Worcestershire must not simply roll over and accept decisions from Whitehall that are wrong for our county.

This is about protecting services, protecting taxpayers and standing up for Worcestershire.

🚨 LABOUR’S LGR SHAMBLES JUST GOT WORSE 🚨

Weeks ago, Labour announced the future of local government in Worcestershire as if it was settled.

Now?
🛑 PAUSED.
⚖️ REVIEWED AFTER NEW LEGAL ADVICE.
❓ UNCERTAINTY EVERYWHERE.

Labour pushed ahead with the biggest shake-up of our councils in generations, announced the North/South split, set the machinery moving and THEN found itself having to revisit the process.

You couldn’t script this level of incompetence.
❌ Announce it
❌ Start preparing for it
❌ Spend officer time and public money on it
❌ Create uncertainty for staff and residents
❌ THEN review whether the process stacks up

And who pays when government gets it wrong?

💷 YOU DO.

Residents deserve to know how much has already been spent, what happens next, and whether Labour’s North/South plan is now hanging by a thread.

Councillor Nikolas Price is taking residents’ concerns directly to Worcestershire County Council. Years of disruption, delays and frustration cannot be dismissed as numbers on a spreadsheet.

As I told the BBC, BREP must be completed and the delays addressed. But the scheme was designed around growth set out in a Local Plan that is now significantly out of date.

With just 2.24 years of housing land supply and major speculative developments coming forward, Bromsgrove urgently needs updated traffic modelling and a wider transport review.

We cannot allow today’s £50 million investment to be overtaken by tomorrow’s congestion.
