Thank you to all the lovely Plaistow residents who voted for me. It was always going to be incredibly difficult to get re-elected as a lone Independent up against the large political parties, especially with the tactical voting to keep one particular party out.
But I thought I'd give it a shot after so many local people wanted me to stand again and I'm glad I did. I had a lovely campaign, full of compliments, friendly conversations and endless coffees!
It's been a really interesting four year term and I have enjoyed it so much. So many new acquaintances made, so many projects and changes, big and small, that I've initiated, all of which I am immensely proud. A role I have truly loved.
I am most proud of the future pedestrian crossings at Plaistow Green roundabout junctions (note the photo!). I lobbied for it, walked it and discussed it with senior Conservatives, Directors of Traffic and the Council engineers and was delighted when Transport for London monies were secured for it. Thank you to Conservative Portfolio Holder Cllr Nicholas Bennett (now retired) for his help. I hope the future public consultation is well attended and I thank the Traffic officers and engineers for their work on this scheme. Bromley residents and families, especially the school children and elderly, need a safe way to travel across an aggressive roundabout where fast moving vehicles have taken priority for too many years.
There have been many other smaller wins for Plaistow ward under my tenure and I hope residents will remember the "Alisa" years favourably.
I've many, many messages on my phone and email and I will work through them and reply to all. Apparently I am technically still a councillor until Monday so the email is still live.
Good luck to Panos and Alwin, I wish them well.
Thank you Plaistow, it's been a blast!
Alisa xx
