Friends of Whitehall Recreation Ground We are a small group of local volunteers whose aim is to enhance Whitehall Recreation Ground. We organise a wide variety of activities.

The Friends of Whitehall Recreation Ground exist to:

Encourage the informal enjoyment of the park’s facilities. Promote the conservation, protection and improvement of Whitehall Rec. Promote the conservation of the natural flora and fauna of the park. Through fundraising, provide amenities which would not normally be the responsibility of the London Borough of Bromley. We work in collaboration wi

th various groups in the community to promote these objectives and also to support other like minded bodies. We work particularly closely with the Chatterton Village Association, London Borough of Bromley’s parks department, Raglan Primary School and the local neighbourhood community Police. We run a series of different events which raises much needed funds for many projects along with bringing the community together.

The Miyawaki Forest was watered last night… thanks to all who helped. We’ve asked for a refill.
Also the burnt area has been thoroughly cleared and levelled by Idverde.. thanks goes to the maintenance guys for doing that so quickly.
The two elms in that area are not looking good after the fire. If you have spare water please share some with them. Pour it on the bark / trunk if you can

Sad to report that there’s a fire in the park. It is being put out by the fire brigade. We don’t know the cause but please be very aware that discarded ci******es and BBQ grill trays can cause lots of damage very quickly. Please be careful in all our parks and woods this summer

A quick update we have water and access to more. Many thanks for all who emailed and commented; your time is much appreciated. Also thanks to Cllr Smith for resolving the matter so swiftly, it’s very appreciated. We will try to water sooner than Friday if the cube gets filled. We welcome more volunteers if you are free! 💦

We are sad to report that our Miyawaki Forest is dying. We have asked for our water cube to be filled this summer but it’s only been filled once. We have the volunteers to water it on a Friday morning but still no water. Emails are ignored. The community came together to plant this new forest last year…. We watered it weekly throughout the summer and we had a 97% success rate. All the new trees we planted this year have died. Now last years ones are dying. Please contact your local councillors to get the cube filled weekly to save our forest.
