Well that was a lot of work. Finally found a wonderful solvent that will remove any type of adhesive tape, doesn't stain and doesn't affect coloured paper or ink. Years of meddling with solvent concoctions and finally got there 😊

Extensive work carried out on this cover to try and reduce its discolouration. 1867 10r. yellow, single example on local cover within Porto.
Item surface cleaned, humidified, deacidified, chelation solutions applied over suction, dried, repeated process, dried, notable colour change, paper re-sized and then minor repairs carried out.

Stain reduction on 1855/58 25r. blue used on 1856 cover from Lisbon to Lagoa. Stains were organic, so were able to be reduced using enzymatic wash applied over suction table. This process was carried out on the stamp too.

Severe staining reduced by chelation (to prevent colour change to blue substrate). Staining disguised with toned paper- far less visible to the eye than under the photographic glare, but a nice improvement anyway and far less visually distracting. Large infill carried out on the verso flap too.

Official Royal NZ Airforce baggage / packet label used with three Official 8d. adhesives for 2 shilling

Pretty hard to get this tear to appear seamless. Thick card and cut edge are always visible even when repaired. Tissue was adhered between the 2 edtip. To give them a softer edge, feathered out and adhered to opposite sides, then toned tissue applied over the top.

Finally finding the time to get back to work after having my 3rd baby!

Starting off with this lovely 1845: Prepaid entire letter from Woking with italic "Woking / Penny Post" despatch, via London to Brighton, Mass., USA.

Flattened, repaired and infilled.
