An update from Bristol Libraries on their latest plans for reopening - nothing specific on Wick Road yet but we’ll let you know when anything announced.

We’re really excited that we’ll be able to welcome you back to our buildings soon, and we’re working hard on our plans for a phased reopening to keep everyone safe.

From 13th July, we’ll be providing a Call & Collect service and accepting returned books at Central Library (Monday-Saturday, 11-4pm).

Books will continue to be automatically renewed during this time and fines will continue to be waived, so there is no need to return books if you are not able to.

In August, we’re planning to re-open a few of the branch libraries, with plans to reopen the Central Library in September. These are likely to open initially with reduced opening hours and facilities and will include a range of new measures to ensure everyone’s safety.

We’ll be releasing more information about when this will be and what this will involve over the next few weeks, and we really appreciate your patience as we take time to plan this carefully.

East Bristol Children’s Centres are working in partnership with Family Action to provide fresh food boxes for £3.50. This is for families that might be finding it difficult at this time. They recognise that there might be many reasons why things might be difficult at this time, if a low cost food box could be helpful, get in touch with them at 0117 3532899 or [email protected] for an application. Available at Broomhill, Oldbury Court and Speedwell, spaces are limited.

The Friends of Wick Road Library committee are looking for a local designer to design a logo for our group and a leaflet that can be used to promote the services the library offers. We can pay but as we're a small community group operating on tight margins, we have to stress that the money won't be brilliant. However, full credit will be given and it's a chance to see your work around Brislington and know that you've helped a community service which is much loved locally. If you have design skills and would like to help, please get in touch with us via our email: [email protected]. If any of you reading this know some great local designers who might be interested in this job, please share this with them and ask them to get in touch.

The Friends of Wick Road Library have a committee meeting on Saturday 29th February at 10am. Everyone is welcome, and you don't have to be a member to come along. We're a friendly group and refreshments are provided. We have secured a small amount of funding to run some events for the community in the library, so if you have any ideas of what you would like to see us doing, please do come along and have your say. (Please use the side entrance as the library isn't open to the public until 11am).

Friends of Wick Road Library - please share

All library users welcome to a Friends of Wick Road Library meeting at 10am this Saturday. You don't have to be a regular committee member to attend - anyone who's interested is welcome to pop in. (If you do attend, please note that the library doesn't open till 11am and you will need to enter via the side entrance).

Thanks so much to Friends Of Wick Road Library member Clare Flegg, who along with Jane the librarian and with supplies from Kev Howell has managed to tidy up the library back garden, weeded and planted with yellow tulips and other bulbs!

If you’d also like to get involved with events at the library, Friends Of Wick Road Library are having a meeting this Saturday 7th December at 10am - please join us! We shall be appointing a committee, with volunteer roles to apply for including Chair, Secretary and Treasurer, as well as looking at ideas for improving the library and bidding ideas for funding.

Some of the Friends of Wick Road Library are helping out to make the garden at the back look a bit brighter - but we need some supplies! Can anyone help?
