💙 This Alzheimer’s Month, we’re celebrating the small changes that can make a big difference.

At Brunelcare, we’re always looking for ways to make our care homes feel more like home, especially for residents living with dementia.

At Robinson House Care Home, all 70 bedrooms are being redecorated with residents at the heart of the project. 🏡

Each house has its own colour scheme, with patterned soft furnishings, new carpets, furniture and individual front doors, helping to create spaces that feel comfortable, familiar and homely.

Thoughtful design can play an important role in supporting people living with dementia. Distinctive colours and patterns can help rooms feel more recognisable, while creating a warm and personal environment that residents can feel comfortable in.

And importantly, residents have been involved in choosing the designs, sharing their thoughts on the different colour schemes and helping shape the place they call home. 💙

The refurbishment is being carried out in partnership with Furncare, with Robinson House’s handyman Alan , who has been part of the home for more than 30 years, bringing the designs to life.

There’s still more to come, with communal areas and kitchenettes also being updated throughout the remainder of 2026.

Because this is our residents’ home, and we want them to have a voice in how it looks and feels. 💙

💜 It’s Alzheimer’s Month

September is Alzheimer’s Month – a time to raise awareness, challenge misconceptions and shine a light on the experiences of people living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, as well as the families, friends and care teams who support them.

Throughout the month, we’ll be sharing stories from across our care homes, celebrating the people who live and work there and highlighting the compassionate, person-centred dementia care that takes place every day. 🏡💜

All of our care homes specialise in dementia care, supporting residents to live fulfilling lives while receiving the care, understanding and support they need.

🍳 Cooking, connection and community at Waverley Gardens ❤️

Since 2023, our tenants at Waverley Gardens (just one of our Extra Care Housing Schemes) have been enjoying monthly visits to the Co-Exist Community Kitchen, and what started as a pilot visit has grown into a partnership we truly value.

These sessions are about so much more than cooking. They give our tenants the opportunity to build confidence, learn new skills, reconnect with old ones and enjoy a real sense of independence in a warm, welcoming and supportive environment.

For some of our tenants, cooking was once a big part of everyday life but circumstances meant they could no longer do it independently. Being able to get back into the kitchen, prepare food and enjoy the experience again has been incredibly special to see.

A huge thank you to Ari, Ella, Joey, Kelly, Helen and the whole Co-Exist team for creating such an inclusive space where people can learn, grow and connect through food. We’re incredibly grateful for the partnership and everything it brings to our tenants. ❤️

🗺️ Helping our residents connect with their local communities! 💚

We’re delighted to have partnered with three students from the University of Bristol to create new Community Maps, helping our tenants and residents discover the services, activities and opportunities available on their doorstep.

As part of the Bristol Skills Accelerator programme, the students spent June researching the communities surrounding our housing and care sites, identifying everything from local amenities, cafés and community groups to green spaces, transport links and local services.

The maps are a fantastic resource to help our residents explore their neighbourhoods, discover new opportunities and feel even more connected to their local communities. They’ll also help our colleagues improve signposting and strengthen relationships with local organisations and partners.

Michelle Richards, our Director of Customer Services, said: “The project has improved our understanding of the communities around our sites and will help us connect residents and tenants with local opportunities, services and support that can enhance their wellbeing and independence.”

The Community Maps will be shared with our tenants through site meetings, giving them an easy way to find out more about what’s available in their local area.

We’re proud to support collaboration between Brunelcare and local education partners and look forward to seeing how these maps can continue to support community, wellbeing and independence. 💚

A lovely picnic in the park for the residents at our Deerhurst Care Home. 🌳☀️🧺

The residents, alongside our amazing carers enjoyed a relaxing walk through nature, fresh air and sunshine, dogs happily exploring, children playing, Ice Cream and plenty of time just sitting back and watching the world go by. 🐕👧🌿🍦

💍❤️ A very special welcome home for Little Heath's newlywed carers.

The team at Little Heath Care Home truly showed what it means to make every moment matter when staff and residents came together to surprise newlywed carers Aparna and Melbin with a heartfelt wedding celebration in the home's lounge.

The couple, who both work as carers at Little Heath, had recently married in Kerala, India. When they returned to work, they were greeted with a wonderful surprise party, suggested by Alison, one of the residents they care for. 🥰

Residents, colleagues and family members gathered in the home’s lounge to celebrate with the happy couple, while their wedding video was shared across all the home’s units so everyone could join in the celebrations. 🎉

As Home Manager Krishna said, Aparna and Melbin are a brilliant duo who work incredibly hard and are loved by residents and colleagues alike.

The couple said the celebration was “truly magical” and that they feel lucky to be part of such a caring and supportive team. ❤️

☀️ What a wonderful afternoon at Deerhurst Care Home with the lovely Chris Auburn! 🎶🍦

The sun was shining, the ice cream was flowing, and there were smiles all around. Residents enjoyed a fantastic afternoon filled with lovely singing, laughter, and great company.

Yesterday, our residents at Little Heath Care & Support, located in Cadbury Heath, were treated to a wonderful visit from the ice cream van! 🍦☀️

Everyone enjoyed choosing their favourite flavours and cooling down with a delicious ice cream in the sunshine. It was a lovely afternoon filled with smiles, laughter, and sweet treats – the perfect way to make the most of the warm weather!
