University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust is a group of 10 hospitals. Our staff are the lifeblood of the Trust.

University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust is a dynamic and thriving group of hospitals in the heart of Bristol and Weston-super-Mare. The Trust was created when University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust merged with Weston Area Health NHS Trust in April 2020. The organisations have had a formal partnership since May 2017, bringing benefits for patients and staff by combin

ing our skills and resources. This combined workforce of around 13,000 staff deliver over 100 different clinical services across ten different sites. We provide specialist services while remaining at the heart of the community, delivery the best quality treatment for patients in the South West and beyond. They deliver general diagnostic, medical and surgical services to the populations of central and South Bristol and North Somerset, as well as specialism such as children’s services, cardiac and cancer services, and other smaller specialities which are nationally commissioned. The merged organisation has given the Trust the opportunity to create something new, by taking everything that’s good about Weston Area Health NHS Trust and everything that’s good about UH Bristol to create something even better, with a greater purpose.

Treating to***co dependency in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.

Did you know?

Smoking is one of the top causes of preventable deaths and inequalities in our area.

Our treating to***co team presented at NHS Confed Expo, with North Somerset Council and Caafi Health, showcase our learning from our innovative and prevention focused treating to***co partnership work alongside Bristol, North Somerset & South Gloucestershire ICB, South Gloucestershire Council and Bristol City Council.

Together, we have helped support 3,016 people to quit smoking across acute and community settings last year.

For the 600 quits supported in acute care it is estimated to have prevented an estimated 33 deaths, 7 preterm births and 63 readmissions in the first 12 months alone.

We are pleased to announce that the Dementia Delirium Falls Team at UHBW will be continuing their crucial work supporting patients in the Sanctuary and Rainbow Gardens at the BRI and Weston General thanks to the ongoing support of Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity and Alive Activities !

These garden spaces provide much-needed calm and comfort for patients. The family of a patient staying at Weston said: "This is the first time we have visited and he has looked like our old Dad, happy and laughing, doing something he loved to do at home - gardening." 🌱

Thank you to the teams involved for all you do to enhance patient experience 💚

Last week we celebrated Dieticians’ Week, so we’d like to take a moment to reflect on the vital contribution our dietitians make across Bristol NHS Group.

This week has been an opportunity to recognise the expertise, dedication and compassion they bring to their roles every day, supporting patients to manage conditions, recover from illness and make meaningful, lasting improvements to their health and wellbeing.

Whether working on wards, in clinics, or behind the scenes, their impact is felt across every part of our organisation and wider communities.

To all of our dietitians, thank you. Your work truly makes a difference.
