When we formed the council administration just over 3 years ago, these schools had not even been built but were appearing on the Council website as accepting new pupils!

To add further insult, no agreed budget had been secured, no design had been finalised or planning permission sought- the land had not even been secured from the developer!

As the incoming administration, learning the extent of the situation we inherited, it was clear that we had to get a grip after years of delays and broken commitments.

We are proud of the council staff, academy trusts, DfE officers and contractors who have worked flat out, from a standing start, to deliver these schools in such a short amount of time in readiness for the upcoming academic year.

Thank you to everyone for the support they have given to deliver this. You should be justly proud of this achievement.

New Lyde Green schools ready for September.

Excitement is growing as the new Primary and Secondary school buildings in Lyde Green have been formally handed over, with final fit-out works underway ahead of welcoming staff and students next month.

Built to Passivhaus standards, the schools will be carbon neutral, more energy efficient and provide comfortable learning environments that help local children and young people learn, grow and succeed for generations to come.

Exciting Grimsbury Farm News!

As you may know, South Glos Council has been trying to find a new model for the farm as the current model was costing a lot of money, and the full potential of the farm was not being realised.
Following a detailed expression of interest process, it was decided that Brandon Trustโ€™s vision for the site most clearly matched the aims of both the council and local residents โ€“ namely ensuring that it remains an important community asset, where residents can visit a range of animals.

Watch Cllr. Alison Evans below to find out more, and stay tuned for more updates coming soon!
