Incident type - Vehicle fire
Time - 21:06
Mobilise - V67P1
Crew WM WOODHOUSE, TCM PEARCE, FF WEBB, FF EVANS, DFF HEAD.

Crews were mobilised to a vehicle fire that had been called in by a member of the public passing a car park between the pines cafe, and lydeard hill! (7 mile stone Carpark)!
When crews arrived they found one van well alight with no signs of the vehicle owner or anyone that may have been known to the vehicle. Crews extinguished the fire using 2 breathing apparatus, 1 HRJ, 1 Thermal image camera, cutting tools, and approximately 5000 litres of water. The incident commander requested the attendance of the police due to the nature of the incident.
We believe the vehicle was a VW CADDY and red in colour.
Crews have now returned back to home station washed down and prepped the vehicle ready to respond to another incident.

Incident - chimney fire
Location- Kilve
Time - 18:21

Crew - WM WOODHOUSE, CM BARBER, TCM PEARCE, DFF HEAD, FF SULLY, FF HICKS

The new appliance has been put straight into action tonight to a chimney fire in Kilve.

A crew of 6 were mobilised by fire control to a property in Kilve where the occupants were concerned about a fire within the chimney! Upon arrival the Incident commander liaised with the occupant of the property and quickly got to work with the crew to extinguish the open fire and remove the debris from the hearth, once this was removed the crew could look up into the chimney breast and could see the fire had self extinguished.
Crews used a thermal image camera to check the whole chimney breast throughout the house for any hot spots and monitor a reduction in temperature from the chimney. The incident commander gave the occupant some words of advice about what to do next and to get the chimney swept as a precaution. Crews packed away the tools and handed the incident back to the home owner.

πŸŽŠπŸŽ‰πŸŽŠπŸŽ‰ BIG NEWS ALERT πŸŽŠπŸŽ‰πŸŽŠπŸŽ‰

CONGRATULATIONS

FF STACEY PEARCE

For the last week FF Stacey Pearce has endured one of the most difficult parts of her career and passed her INCIDENT COMMAND qualification. After several assessments both written and practical Stacey got the results she deserves. Stacey will now be able to take the pump and crew out in charge of incidents. This is a massive achievement and a very difficult course to pass but Stacey’s hard work and dedication to continually improve herself has been rewarded by gaining this qualification. Stacey will now form part of the management team at our station and give us more availability to continue to serve our community and surrounding areas.
We wanted to say a massive well done and good luck in your new role.

Crews were mobilised to alarms sounding and reports of smoke in an office block on the Hinkley Point C site. Crews arrived and liaised with the HPC FRS who were already in attendance and confirmed there had been a fire in an air conditioning unit. The fire had been extinguished and crews proceeded to check the building for further signs of fire using breathing apparatus. The building was then ventilated using positive pressure fans before the incident was left in the care of HPC FRS and DSFRS crews returned home station.

The crew was mobilised to a make up request from an ongoing incident nearby.
On arrival the incident commander gave a brief that a damaged electrical armoured cable had caused a fire in a well stocked straw barn.
Crews had made good progress to extinguish the fire using x2 BA, x2 HRJ (Hose reel jets), x1 TIC (Thermal Imaging Camera), small tools and a short triple extension ladder, along with the farmer operating a telehandler.
The incident was scaled down and resources relieved, leaving KV67P1 as a watching brief.
