Another solid drill night on station this Wednesday

This week we focused on RTC training. A critical part of what we do. From scene safety and casualty care to vehicle stabilisation and extrication, it’s all about keeping our skills sharp and ready for when it matters most.

Training like this ensures that when the call comes in, we can respond quickly, safely, and effectively to protect our community.

Big effort from the whole crew

We had the pleasure of hosting Towcester Young Farmers on Monday at the station. Showing them the role of Firefighter as well as how they can help us if we ever attend incidents on farm or involving large animals. Thanks for visiting!

Yesterday we hosted an event at the station for mature drivers aged 60+, with the aim of keeping the attendees driving safer for longer.

Over time and as we get older, our driving ability changes. It is important to recognise this and take some steps to improve your driving to stay safe, protecting both yourself and other people on the road.

The event was put on by the Northamptonshire Safer Roads Alliance (NSRA) and the group heard tips and information on safe driving, had demonstrations of equipment from fire staff and were able to book free follow-on driving sessions with the Northampton Advanced Motorists.

All of the attendees also had the opportunity to book a Home Fire Safety Visit from our crews after receiving fire safety advice to protect them in the home.

Thank you to all of the attendees who recognised that their driving may be changing and joined the event to improve their skills.

The NSRA run these events a couple of times a year, so if you missed out, keep an eye out for the next one!

Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service is asking people to follow advice and have fun safely during the Halloween and Bonfire Night period.

We would always recommend only attending organised firework and bonfire displays but urge members of the public that are planning on holding their own display to do so safely to avoid causing fires and injuries.

Darren Carson, Prevention Team Leader at Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “While the number of fires we attend during this period is reducing year by year, we still want to urge people to follow safety advice to keep themselves, their families and their homes safe.

“It is a fun time of year and we want people to enjoy fireworks and bonfires, but we really encourage members of the public to only go to an official display and avoid having them in back gardens.

“If you do have your own display or bonfire and it gets out of control, or you see any unattended fires, please always call 999 and ask for the Fire Service.”
