We know many residents, particularly around Vaux Crescent/Vaux Place, have been concerned about the proposed expansion of the Hawthorne Road depot, and we completely understand why.

Following discussions over recent days with senior council officers and the relevant Cabinet Member, we can confirm that the current planning application will not proceed in its present form. We have asked for the proposals to be reviewed in detail and for more time to ensure the right information is available.

Importantly, this means the application process has effectively been paused while further clarification and information are prepared. We have also made it clear that residents must be properly informed before any revised plans move forward.

To make sure everyone has clear and accurate information, a letter will be delivered to neighbouring residents over the weekend explaining the situation in more detail. This will be followed by further engagement with residents by the Council before any decisions are made.

In the meantime, please be reassured that we are actively representing your views as ward councillors.

Thank you for your patience.

We’ve been out delivering letters in Old Roan following concerns raised about rumours surrounding the Packet Steamer after it was announced the restaurant would close.

We acted quickly to get clarity from Whitbread who confirmed the site will remain a Premier Inn with no plans for asylum accommodation. (See photo of full letter)

Thanks to everyone who stopped to chat. We’re here all year round if you’ve got questions.

I’m honoured to have been elected to represent the Netherton South and Orrell area as a local councillor, and I want to say a genuine thank you to everyone who put their trust in me.

I know many people are fed up with politicians and struggling with the cost of living. People want the government to do more to improve their lives, and faster. But I’d be lying if I said I can fix all of that as a local councillor.

I put myself forward because I want to support our communities as best I can, especially in these difficult times when so many are struggling for a whole range of reasons.

What I can promise is that I’ll work hard. I’ll be accessible, I’ll listen to residents, and I’ll help where I can.

I can’t fix everything, but that doesn’t mean I can’t fix something – and I’ll start by giving this role everything I’ve got.

(Note to self - get a photo at the election count! 🤦‍♂️🤣)

The local elections this Thursday, May 7 are about community.

I’m standing for Sefton Labour because I believe solidarity, equality and social justice are worth fighting for in these divisive times.

I’ve spent the last year working hard in Netherton South and Orrell with Tom and Joanne - two decent, like-minded people who also want to help local people and improve local services.

If we’re elected, we’ll keep showing up, listening to residents, and doing our best in the community all year round.

Please use your 3 votes for Chris Hannaway, Tom Spring and Joanne Williams ❌🗳️
