IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨🚨

Bolton Reform are aware that a vigil is being held in memory of Henry Nowak.

We wanted to make our position on this absolutely clear;

This event is not political.

We absolutely respect the right of people to peacefully come together as a mark of respect and compassion for the family of Henry Nowak.

We also appeal to anyone that is planning on coming into town, that there is no place for violence under any circumstances.

We fully support the people in Bolton who are tasked with protecting us every single day.

This event is to show our Unity, compassion and respect.

As it is also Ironman weekend, the town centre will be busy.

It's been another busy week across Little Lever & Darcy Lever, and I wanted to share some of the work taking place on your behalf.

🩵Surgeries - I met this week with staff at Little Lever Library and I'm pleased to confirm that my councillor surgeries will now be held there on the first Friday of every month between 11am and 1pm. I hope to see many of you there and look forward to discussing any issues or concerns you may have.

🩵Mytham Primary School - I met with staff at Mytham regarding ongoing problems with vehicles parking and blocking the Herbert Street entrance. This is causing safety concerns and obstruction issues. I am now reviewing the signage and road hatching with our Highways team to see what improvements can be made.

🩵Fly-Tipping on Masefield Road - Following reports from residents, I visited the park area to the rear of Masefield Road where fly-tipped waste had been dumped and then set on fire. This has apparently become an ongoing issue, so I am exploring measures to prevent vehicles accessing the area and reduce the risk of further incidents.

🩵Crompton Court- Today I met with staff at Crompton Court to discuss local get involved initiatives and the fantastic scheme they have, Everyone was extremely welcoming and I look forward to working with the team on future projects and activities.

🩵Crummock Close - Off Road Bike Concerns- Residents have raised concerns about off-road bikes cutting through the guinnels on the estate, creating a danger for pedestrians, particularly children travelling to and from school. This is something I am actively looking into, and I hope to provide an update soon. Watch this space.

🩵Local Environmental Issues
This week I have also raised a number of reports relating to potholes, grass cutting and other local concerns across Little Lever and Darcy Lever, all these are now with the relevant council officers. I will provide further updates as resolutions are offered.

🩵Horwich North By-Election - I know this isn’t in our ward, but this week our new Reform UK candidate for the Horwich North by-election was announced, Wendy Parkinson, If Wendy is successful, we will increase our representation to 11 councillors and become the official major opposition group on Bolton Council.
If you have friends or family living in Horwich North, please encourage them to get out and vote. Another Reform councillor would strengthen our ability to represent residents across Bolton.

As always, there are plenty more positive developments in the pipeline which I hope to share soon.

If you need to contact me about any local issue please email: [email protected]

Thank you for your continued support.

Please see the details of my upcoming Surgeries the first one will be held on Friday 3rd July.
I am currently also looking for venues in the Darcy Lever area that are appropriate and accessible to reduce travel distance for Darcy Lever residents. I will keep you posted

I understand that a historic photograph and social media comment relating to me are being shared.
The photograph was taken around 40 years ago at a private fancy dress event at a works Christmas party where I performed songs as part of an act as the drifters (a music act of that time).
I want to ge clear that I recognise that aspects of this are now not appropriate by today’s standards and it is not something I would support or be involved in now.
If the news story causes any offence I apologise, this does not reflect me me or the way I carry out my work or public duties.
I feel saddened that a historic search has been carried out to try and find fault and taken out of context as to what it was all in an attempt to stop the good work currently being undertaken.

A busy week this week but I wanted to share an update on some of the work I’ve been doing this week on behalf of residents:

HMO Planning Application – 53 Duxbury Avenue
Thank you to everyone who contacted me directly following the letter I delivered to this area. All objections I received have now been formally submitted to the planning officers, along with my own detailed letter and an online objection. I’m hopeful that every concern raised by residents will be fully considered as part of the application process.

Moses Gate Country Park – Resident Concerns
I have requested full information and plans from the Community Safety Team at Bolton Council regarding the issues many of you have raised, including illegal BBQs, damage to wildlife, and general misuse of the park.
I also highlighted the importance of a need for strong enforcement over the bank holiday weekend.
The latest update received on this matter is that officers from Bolton Council are working closely with Greenspace, Greater Manchester Police, and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service to ensure the park is safe, protected, and is accessible to everyone. Moses Gate Country Park is now being discussed weekly at monitoring meetings. An article is going in the Bolton News today to update the public on this work and to remind everyone of enforcement that will take place. I have been assured that Officers will also be working with Civil Contingencies and GMP throughout the bank holiday to monitor the area and take appropriate action when needed.

Highways Issues – Park Road & Windermere Avenue and Ainsworth Road.
I have reported several potholes , unsafe pathways and pavements and areas of road damage to the Highways Team. I am currently awaiting them carrying out assessments and providing me with further information on maintenance costs and planned works, I will update you as soon as I have more details.

Crompton Lodges Caravan Site – Security & Future Plans.
I am now in discussions with Community Safety and Housing regarding the ongoing concerns about security and the long-term future of the Crompton Lodges caravan site. I have challenged the extortionately high ongoing security costs and requested full information on the site’s future.
I also have a meeting scheduled next week to receive further updates and to raise the concerns residents have shared with me.

As always, please feel free to contact me with any concerns or issues in your area. I’m here to help and will continue working hard on your behalf. I hope you all enjoy a lovely, warm, bank holiday weekend. 🩵
