The Horwich Town Mayor, Councillor McKeon, would like to extend his sincere thanks to everyone who attended the Civic Service held at Holy Trinity Church on Sunday 14 June.

Special thanks are offered to the neighbouring dignitaries and guests whose presence helped make the occasion such a memorable and meaningful event.

The Mayor is also delighted to announce that the raffle raised over £400, with all proceeds going towards his chosen charities at the end of his term of office.

Thank you once again to all who supported the Civic Service and contributed generously.

Today Bolton Council launched a consultation reviewing the Alcohol Public Space Protection Order, which is due for renewal in October 2026.

Have your say the Alcohol Consumption Public Space Protection Order [PSPO] for the Borough of Bolton.
Bolton Council currently has an Alcohol PSPO which is due to expire in October 2026. This PSPO enables Greater Manchester Police [GM Police] and any other authorised officer to challenge alcohol-related crime and anti-social behaviour in a public place in Bolton.

We are now seeking to renew it for a further 3 years and would like feedback from the public and key stakeholders. For further information and to have your say, please visit: https://bit.ly/Alcohol_PSPO
Deadline: Thursday 16th July 2026

Today Bolton Council launched a consultation reviewing four Dog Control Public Space Protection Orders, which are due for renewal in October 2026. Please feel free to share the information below with your constituents. I have also attached an infographic for your use on social media.

Have your say on Dog Control Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs)
Bolton Council currently has four Dog Control PSPOs which are due to expire in October 2026. They give the police and authorised officers of Bolton Council additional powers aimed at preventing nuisance caused by irresponsible dog owners or dog walkers. The four orders are:

- The Dogs Exclusion PSPO
- The Dogs on Leads PSPO
- The Dogs on Leads by Direction PSPO
- The Fouling of Land by Dogs PSPO

We are now keen to hear from our residents, stakeholders and visitors on their experiences of the PSPOs and views around the proposed renewal. For further information and to have your say, please visit: https://bit.ly/Dog_Control2026. Deadline: Monday 13th July 2026

This week, the Town Mayor of Horwich attended a number of important civic engagements.

Following promotion to the Championship after victory at Wembley, Bolton Wanderers F.C. were honoured at a Civic Reception hosted by Bolton Council at Bolton Town Hall to celebrate this fantastic achievement alongside the players and club officials.

On Wednesday, I was delighted to be invited to acknowledge a local couple celebrating their Sapphire Wedding Anniversary, marking 65 years of marriage together — a truly wonderful milestone and a special occasion to recognise.

| The North Neighbourhood Team will be deploying our knife amnesty bin as part of the national week of action to tackle knife crime. You can safely dispose of any unwanted knives at the following drop off location:

📍 Bolton Gate Retail Park, Turton Street, Bolton, BL1 1RX
🗓️ Friday 22nd May
🕙 12pm - 2pm

You may have unwanted knives at home and are worried about safely disposing of them. This is an excellent way to ensure they are responsibly and securely disposed of. This is also an opportunity to anonymously hand over knives without fear of prosecution. If you wish to hand over a knife, please ensure the blade is safely wrapped in cardboard, secured in place with tape, and placed into an opaque bag whilst in on route to the amnesty bin. No details will be taken, no questions asked - simply walk over, drop off, and walk away knife free.
