Join us for a week of events celebrating the strength, creativity and contributions of refugees in our community. Refugee Week is all about bringing people together, building understanding and creating a more welcoming borough for everyone 💙

There’s something for all ages happening across the week, including:

🎤 Community storytelling & discussion events

Join us to celebrate Refugee Week 2026 across Blackburn with Darwen, taking place from 15th–21st June

Refugee Week is a global celebration of the creativity, contributions, and resilience of refugees and people seeking sanctuary. It’s a great opportunity for our community to come together, build understanding, and celebrate the rich diversity that makes so strong.

This year’s theme is Courage. 💛 We recognise the immense courage shown by those forced to flee their homes and rebuild their lives in the face of adversity. It is also an invitation for all of us to show courage in how we welcome, advocate for, and stand alongside those seeking sanctuary.

There is a fantastic programme lined up! Be sure to join us for Kairos Housing's very own Portraits of Courage Exhibition & Launch Event at Blackburn Cathedral, alongside a brilliant lineup of events across the borough:

There's lots of different events happening across the borough to celebrate Refugee Week . Which ones are you planning to attend?

Refugee Week is always an exciting annual event to look forward to and to add to that is an invitation to a Global Tea Extravaganza. The date is Wednesday 17th June 2026 at 10:30 to 12:30 at Central URC (United Reform Church Hall) Duckworth Street, Darwen. It is free entry and everyone is welcome.

What began as a single online post asking for words of comfort has transformed into a worldwide wave of kindness. 💙

Messages from across the globe flooded in addressed 'c/o Lucy' to welcome asylum seekers and refugees to Blackburn with Darwen. Today, we are so proud to launch the 'c/o Lucy' Postcard Collection!

We have taken 6 of the most powerful global messages of hope and turned them into premium postcards. Keep them as art, or send them to someone who needs a reminder that the world is full of good people.

✨ 100% of proceeds go directly to Kairos Housing to protect sanctuary seekers from homelessness.

📦 Pre-orders are now live! Packs will be dispatched starting 1st June, or you can choose free local pickup and collect yours during our 'Portraits of Courage' exhibition at Blackburn Cathedral during Refugee Week (15–21 June).
